Augustana College is a private Lutheran liberal arts college in Rock Island, Illinois. The college enrolls approximately 2,500 students. Covering 115 acres (46.5 ha) of hilly, wooded land, Augustana is adjacent to the Mississippi River.
Augustana University is a private, Lutheran university in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, United States. The largest private university in the state, the institution derives its name from the Confessio Augustana, or Augsburg Confession, a foundational document of Lutheranism. Students, alumni, friends, employees, and those who know the college casually refer to it as "Augie." Prior to September 2015, the university was known as Augustana College.
Upsala College (UC) was a private college affiliated with the Swedish-American Augustana Synod and located in East Orange in Essex County, New Jersey in the United States. Upsala was founded in 1893 in Brooklyn, in New York City, and moved to Kenilworth, and finally to East Orange in 1924. In the 1970s, Upsala considered moving to Wantage Township in rural Sussex County as East Orange's crime problem magnified and social conditions deteriorated. However, college administration and trustees chose to remain committed to East Orange. Declining enrollment and financial difficulties forced the school to close in 1995.

Joseph N. "Smokey Joe" Salem is former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of South Dakota (1966–1974), Northern Arizona University (1975–1978), and the University of Minnesota (1979–1983), compiling a career college football record of 96–91–3. Salem was most recently the quarterbacks coach at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a position he held from 2006 to 2009.
Lars Paul Esbjörn was a Swedish-American Lutheran clergyman, academic and church leader. Esbjörn was a founder of the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church and of Augustana College. He served as the first president of Augustana College from 1860 until his resignation in 1863.

The Augustana Vikings are the athletic teams that represent Augustana University, located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Vikings compete as members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for all 14 varsity sports. The Vikings joined the NSIC from the North Central Conference, which folded in 2008. in December 2018 Augustana announced its intentions to transition to NCAA Division I by 2030 at the latest. However, they hope to receive a bid to join a conference by 2020, according to Sioux Falls newspaper The Argus Leader. Multiple regional media reports in 2018 indicated that Augustana's likeliest Division I destination was the Sioux Falls-based Summit League. Many of the school's boosters are tied to Sanford Health, a hospital company also based in Sioux Falls that has long been a major sponsor of the Summit League. The conference moved its headquarters in 2018 to an office complex owned by Sanford.
Old Main, Augustana College is an historic building located in Rock Island, Illinois, United States. It was built between 1884 and 1893 on the campus of Augustana College, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
The Clarence "Big House" Gaines Award is an award given annually by Collegeinsider.com to the most outstanding men's college basketball head coach in NCAA Division II. The award was established in 2011 and is named for the late Clarence Gaines, who coached for 47 years at Winston-Salem State University.

Tom Billeter is an American college basketball coach, currently the head coach at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He previously has been the head coach at North Dakota State University, as well as holding assistant coaching roles at a number of NCAA Division I colleges. He led Augustana to the 2016 NCAA Division II national championship and was named the national coach of the year in that season.
Oliver M. Olson was an American football, basketball, track, and cross country coach. He served as the head football coach at Macalester College (1939–1942), Black Hills Teachers College—now known as Black Hills State University (1946–1947), Beloit College (1948–1949), Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois (1950), and West Liberty University (1957–1958). Olson was also the head basketball coach Augustana during the 1950–51 season and at West Liberty, serving two stints (1953–1957) and (1959–1964), leading his team to one West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) regular season championship (1961) and three conference tournament titles.
Ralph E. Starenko is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Concordia University Nebraska from 1959 to 1963, Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois from 1964 to 1968, and Augustana College—now known as Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from 1969 to 1976, compiling a career college football coaching record of 84–77–6. He played college football at Valparaiso University, from which he graduated in 1954.

He served as the head football coach at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from 1948 to 1950 and Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin from 1956 to 195.7 Thompson played college football at St. Olaf College and the University of Wisconsin.
