Augustenborg Municipality - Until 1 January 2007 Augustenborg was a municipality (Danish, kommune ) in South Jutland County on the island of Als off the east coast of the Jutland Peninsula in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 53 km2, and had a total population of 6,577 (2005). Its latest mayor was Åse Nygaard. The site of its municipal council was the town of Augustenborg.
Augustenborg Municipality ceased to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was combined with former Broager Municipality, Gråsten Municipality, Nordborg Municipality, Sundeved Municipality, Sydals Municipality, and Sønderborg Municipality to form the new Sønderborg Municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 499 km2 and a total population of 49,886 (2005).
Arden municipality was a municipality in North Jutland County on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark until January 1, 2007. The municipality covered an area of 228 km2, and had a total population of 8,513 (2005). Its last mayor was Hans Christian Maarup, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.

Gråsten is a town with a population of 4,228 on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark by the Nybøl Nor at an inlet of the Flensburg Fjord. Sundeved is a peninsula on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. It lies between Åbenrå Fjord and Als Fjord to the north, Alssund to the east and Flensborg Fjord to the south. The westernmost part of the city of Sønderborg is located on the peninsula. Most of Sønderborg is on the island of Als.

The municipality covered an area of 95 km2, and had a total population of 6,527 (2005). Its last mayor was Jens Peter Kock. The site of its municipal council was the town of Hørup. Other towns in the municipality were Høruphav, Lysabild, Mommark, Skovby, and Sønderby.

Sønderborg County is a former province in Denmark, located on the island of Als and the easternmost part of Southern Jutland. Sønderborg County was established in 1920 following the reunification of Denmark and South Jutland following the Schleswig Plebiscites. It was dissolved in 1970 when it merged with three other counties to form South Jutland County. Sønderborg County corresponded geographically to the former Prussian Kreis Sonderburg.
