Aurat Aur Char Devari is a thirteen-part series comprises short films, produced by Kamran Qureshi, written by Zafar Mairaj and directed by Adnan Wai Qureshi. [1] The series revolves around the sensitive issues faced by women such as honour killings, dowry, forced marriages and Vani. It broadcast in 2007 on ARY Digital. [2]

Mein Akeli Hun

Seema, a lower-class Bangali maid, worries about her daughter Haseena's marriage to Rasheeda's son Mujeeb due to her gambler husband Shareef. When he is left with no money he gambles on his daughter. However, Seema protects her daughter from gambler Rafiq, and police arrests Shareef. The next day, Seema confronts the gambler who demands her instead of her daughter on request of leaving her daughter. She goes to jail and tells about the deal to Shareef. The next day, Seema learns of Rafiq's murder by Shareef.

Aik Aurat Do Nikkah

Shehnaz lives happily with her husband Rafiq in a slum. One day, a person Ghaffar comes across her and tells everyone that she is his wife Zubaida who had committed suicide by drowning herself in the sea. The matter is taken to the police but he couldn't prove anything. In village's Panchayat, Shehnaz tells that she didn't say yes during the nikkah and her father had received fifty thousand rupees in return of her. Ghaffar used to beat her so much that she decided to suicide but Rafiq saved her. She pretnded to loss her memory after which Rafiq named her Shehnaz and marries her. Ghaffar only wants his debts which Rafiq pays him by selling his camel.

Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki

Kiran's habits of watching romantic and glamorised television soaps and cooking shows turns her into materialistic. She wishes his husband Aamir for the expensive clothes and modren clothes which she sees on television. To fulfill her demands, he turns into a street criminal and robbing people by showing pistol. Kiran's brother Irfan who frequemtly visits her tries to explain her but she ignores it. One day, when Kiran demads him of fifteen lacs for a leenga he goes out for robbery. The robbery fails when his partner tries to snatch mobile from Irfan who was coming from his house. He shots him dead and Aamir fades when sees that the dead person is Irfan. Kiran comes there to give Irfan's mobile to him which he had left in the house.

Cactus Ka Phool

Suraiya loneliness and aging makes her dull and weak. Maakhi, the servant who has brought her up like her children after her mother's death advises her father to marry her. Thus, she is married to Jameel, her cousin and much younger to her. After marriage, they remain intact and don't even talk. One day, his friend Ramsha brings him in her house in city where he lived before marriage for study. On his returning, he couldn't find Suraiya anywhere and suspects that she has eloped with Maakhi's son Mureed as he had once heard him talking about Suraiya. He takes his rifle and just shoot him that Maakhi comes there and tells him that she has not elope with any anyone, she has elope in search of love.

Kuch Na Raha

Five years passed after Naila's marriage and she becomes unable to give birth to a child. Her husband Shahid still loves her but her mother-in-law wants child for which he pressurises Shahid to marry with another woman. Shahid leaves Naila in her mother's house for some days and marries during it. When Naila comes to know it, she feels betrayed and decides not to even see him again. The miracle happens and she gets pregnant. On knowing it, Shahid and her mother come to bring her but she denies. Shahid who has already a diabetes falls seriously ill and is taken to the hospital. His second wife Lubna goes to Naila and requests her to go to Shahid who wants to see her. On her reaching, Shahid takes her single look and dies after.

Noori Kari Hogayi

Noori and Manak love each other. Manak is the son of a local landlord Saeen where Noori's father Ghulamo works as a servant. Noori's newborn brother is diagnosed with Hydrocephalus for the treatment of which Gulabo requires fifty thousand rupees. He requests for the money to Saeen who first refuses but later agrees on the condition that he will marry his daughter with him. Noori is married to Saeen and when Manak comes to know about it he adapts self destruction. When Saeen comes to know that Noori was her lover and is the reason of Manak's poor condition he shoots her and one of his servant stating that he has killed them in the name of honour.

Gharonda

Zainab lives in Lyari with her loving husband Ghaffar who earns livelihood by his donkey and loves him like a son. Their son Qaso doesn't like the father's profession and his place. When Ghaffar dies in an accident, Qaso decides to move in a posh area. He and his wife shits there but Zainab refuses to leaves his deceased husband's house and the people of their race. When she doesn't go there she is sent to mental hospital by Qaso and the buyers of her house.

Zarmina Bay Qasoor Hai

Zarmina becomes vani when her brother kills the son of Haji Wazir Khan, an older and influential man of the tribe. She is married to Wazir Khan and mistreated in his house. Wazir Khan manages to bring her in her mother's house and divorces her there to save her from further oppression.

Na Mehram

Being a single mother, Zeba faces difficulties as she has to deal with the cruel men of the society who keeps an eye on her being a single woman. Especially Ayaz, a person in her neighbourhood who always teases her and even proposes her so many time which she rejects every time. One day she comes across her ex-husband on road and brings him to her house due to his extremely poor condition being a drug addict. She keeps him in her house to prevent from the men's behaviour that she faces everyday. When the neighbours of her society comes to know that he is not her husband they decide to throw her out of the society. She then holds a mirror for them that the lustful men like them has forced her to keep her ex-husband with her.

Mein Bhi Kisi Ki Beti Hun

Afshan and Raheel marries after falling in love. However, after some time of the marriage Raheel's behaviour changes towards her and her life becomes even more difficult when her mother-in-law and sister-in-law start mistreating her. After inspiring from a film, Afshan pretends to be possessed by a ghost whenever her mother-in-law hurts her. She is treated by many but couldn't get recovery. After so many treatments, they come across a spiritual healer who finds all the truth and tells the family about their misbehaves that they have done with her.

The series was written by Zafar Mairaj [3] and directed by Adnan Wai Qireshi. [4] Mairaj shared that he had a tough time during the scriptwriting as it was difficult for him to convince Qureshi who does not want sudden turns in the stories. [5]

Ashk[tear] is a Pakistani drama serial written by Zafar Mairaj. It is directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat and produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Humayun Saeed.The project was headed by Faysal Manzoor. It aired every Tuesday at 8:35pm on GEO TV. Its Slogan is, 'Love Perfected Through Pain'. The title song is composed by Waqar Ali and sung by Sajjad Ali.It ended in November 2012.
