Ayni or Aini is a town and jamoat in north-west Tajikistan. It is the capital of Ayni District in Sughd province, named after the Tajik national poet Sadriddin Ayni. It lies about 177 kilometres (110 mi) from Khujand and 165 kilometres (103 mi) from Dushanbe on the bank of the Zeravshan River. The jamoat has a total population of 12,131.

India established a base at Ayni in Tajikistan, which was used to assist the Northern Alliance during the Taliban regime.

Varzob District

Varzob District is a district in the Region of Republican Subordination in Tajikistan, lying north of Dushanbe. It borders on Hisor District from the west, Rudaki District from the south, and Vahdat District from the east. The Gissar Range runs along its northern edge. The Varzob River traverses the entire district north to south. The district capital is Varzob.

Rudaki District

Rudaki District or Nohiyai Rudaki is a district in the Region of Republican Subordination in Tajikistan. It stretches south from Dushanbe, bordering on Shahrinaw, Hisor, and Varzob districts from the north and northwest, Tajikistan's Khatlon Province from the south and the east, and Uzbekistan from the west. Its administrative capital is Somoniyon, a southern suburb of Dushanbe, called Leninskii in the Soviet period.

Dardar Town and Jamoat in Sughd, Tajikistan

Dardar is a village and jamoat in Aini District in Sughd province in north-west Tajikistan, not far from the border with Uzbekistan. It is situated on the northern bank of the Zeravshan River, along Highway A377, to the northwest of Ayni on the road to Urmetan. The jamoat has a total population of 6534. Approaching the town the "wide ivan of a mosque dating from the 19th century can be seen from the road".

Vahdat District

Vahdat District is one of the larger districts of the Districts of Republican Subordination in Tajikistan, called Kofarnihon District until the introduction of a new administrative division in the end of 2003. During the Soviet period it was named Ordzhonikidzeabad district in honor of Georgian communist Grigoriy Ordzhonikidze. It extends east of Dushanbe along the southern slopes of the Gissar Range, bordering on Varzob District from the west and Rasht District from the east. Its long southern border runs along Khatlon Province and then Faizobod, Roghun, and Nurobod districts. The district capital Vahdat is placed off-center at the extreme southwest of the district, just 10 km east of Dushanbe.

The Kondara Gorge is the gorge of the Kondara River in the southern spurs of the Gissar Range, north of Dushanbe in the Varzob District, one of the Districts of Republican Subordination, in western Tajikistan. It has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area (IBA).
