Balita Ngayon (lit.'News Now or News Today') was the former flagship national news broadcast of ABS-CBN in the Philippines. It aired on ABS Channel 3 (later 2) from 1967 to 1972 and from 1986 to 1987 after the resumption of operations as a single network for post-EDSA Revolution. It became the first newscast to use Filipino, predating GMA Balita and TV Patrol .

It is also the title of ABS-CBN's Mega Manila AM radio station DZMM's hourly newscasts.

Airing history

Balita Ngayon debuted on February 20, 1967, and aired daily from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. However, the newscast ceased airing due to the closure of ABS-CBN after the declaration of martial law on September 22, 1972.

On September 15, 1986, Balita Ngayon returned with Mel Tiangco, Frankie Evangelista and Robert Arevalo from 6:30-7:00pm. During this time, it was a Catholic Mass Media awardee. [1] However, due to low ratings brought about by its competition with GMA Balita , Balita Ngayon ended on February 27, 1987 to make way for TV Patrol .

DZMM 630 Edition

Balita Ngayon is also the name of the hourly newscast of DZMM. It presents national and global headlines when no major newscasts are shown. It also has the elements of a flash report, occasionally presented when breaking news is in progress, in which it is called DZMM Radyo Patrol Flash Report.

The World Tonight is an English-language Philippine late-night newscast television program that airs on ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC). It was formerly the English language late-night newscast of ABS-CBN from November 21, 1966 to September 22, 1972, and again from September 15, 1986 to August 13, 1999. The newscast airs 9pm daily, and is anchored by Tina Monzon-Palma and Tony Velasquez on Weekdays, and by Stanley Palisada on Saturdays and Ron Cruz on Sundays. The newscast also airs on Kapamilya Channel on delayed basis at 10pm since July 27, 2020.

<i>TV Patrol Central Visayas</i>

TV Patrol Central Visayas is the local news program of the ABS-CBN Regional Network Group in Mandaue City. It has been the most watched news program in Metro Cebu and Central Visayas as well as Dumaguete and Negros Oriental. The program delivers news headlines about the current events in Central Visayas and Negros Oriental. It is aired live daily from the ABS-CBN Newscenter Cebu at 5:00 PM, from Monday to Friday with simulcast over Channel 9 Bohol and Channel 12 Dumaguete and on radio through DYAB Radyo Patrol 1512 Cebu MOR 97.1 For Life! Cebu and DYAB Teleradyo on Sky Cable Cebu Community Channel 53. It is currently aired online via its official Facebook page, ABS-CBN Regional's YouTube channel and iWant. It also produces its bulletin version News Patrol Central Visayas airing several times a day every weekdays.

DZMM TeleRadyo TV channel of AM radio station DZMM in Metro Manila

TeleRadyo is a Philippine pay television channel that broadcasts ABS-CBN's flagship AM radio station DZMM 630. The channel is owned by the ABS-CBN Corporation under the ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs brand, and is available on cable providers throughout the Philippines. TeleRadyo is also included as an exclusive (free-to-view) digital subchannel on digital terrestrial television via the ABS-CBN TVplus service. TeleRadyo is also simulcast via The Filipino Channel (TFC) and it can be heard and viewed online via DZMM's YouTube channel and IWant. Prior to the closure of DZMM 630 at 8:00 PM on May 5, 2020, the channel was named DZMM TeleRadyo. At 8:20 PM, the station went off the air due to a cease and desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission together with ABS-CBN, S+A, and MOR Philippines. After DZMM 630 kHz was shut down on May 5, 2020, the channel was renamed simply as TeleRadyo. Although it also went off-air a few minutes after, the channel went back on-air and online on May 8, 2020, resuming the programming of the former DZMM.

Julius Caesar Concepcion Babao, known professionally as Julius Babao, is a Filipino broadcast journalist, radio commentator and former talk show host for the Philippine television station ABS-CBN. He is most notable for anchoring TV Patrol from 2003 to November 2010.

The PMPC Star Awards for Best News Program are given to the best television newscasts of the year and also male and female newscasters in the Philippines.

<i>Headline Pilipinas</i>

Headline Pilipinas is the flagship noontime news broadcast of DZMM TeleRadyo in the Philippines. The program is the first and only newscast produced exclusively by the said channel which started to air on October 10, 2016 and shown Mondays to Fridays from 12:00 nn to 1:00 pm, (PST), replacing MMK Klasiks. The newscast is being simulcast on the main radio counterpart itself since June 19, 2017, replacing the timeslot occupied by Maalaala Mo Kaya sa DZMM. MMK sa DZMM moved to a later slot at 2:00 pm, on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and at 9:00 pm, on DZMM TeleRadyo. On April 2, 2018, the program was switched to high definition format, making Headline Pilipinas the only channel-produced program that switched to the said picture format.
