Balwant Gargi Indian dramatist and theatre director

Balwant Gargi was a Punjabi language dramatist, theatre director, novelist, and short story writer, and academic.

Balwant Singh (1820–1853) was the ruler of the princely state of Bharatpur in India from 1825 till his death, and successor to Maharaja Baldeo Singh. He was in turn succeeded by Maharaja Jashwant Singh.

Balwant Singh Rakkha was a Fiji Indian medical doctor and a member of the House of Representatives of Fiji representing the National Federation Party (NFP), but he is best known for his strong support for the former leader of the NFP, Sidiq Koya and the split caused within the NFP when he was rewarded by Koya for his loyalty by being given a seat in a constituency where he was a virtual unknown.

The Balwant Rai Mehta Committee was a committee appointed by the Government of India in January 16, 1957 to examine the working of the Community Development Programme(1952,Oct 2nd) and the National Extension Service(1953 Oct 2nd) and to suggest measures for their better working. The Chairman of this committee was Balwantrai G Mehta. The committee submitted its report in November 24, 1957 and recommended the establishment of the scheme of 'democratic decentralisation' which finally came to be known as Panchayati Raj. Jashwant Singh was the ruling Sinsinwar Jat Maharaja of the princely state of Bharatpur from 1853 to 1893 in Rajasthan, India. His successor was Maharaja Ram Singh.

Baldeo Singh was a Jat and the ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Bharatpur (1823–1825) and the successor of Maharaja Randhir Singh after his death in 1823. He was born in Jat family. Maharaja Randhir Singh had no son and, as per rule, his brother Maharaja Baldeo Singh ascended the throne after his death in 1823.

He left Akali Dal to get elected to Rajya Sabha in 1996 and served as the Union Minister for Social Welfare. He formed his own political party Lok Bhalai Party that he merged into Akali Dal in November 2011. He contested for Punjab assembly in 2012 elections from Mohalli and lost.
