Stanford Law School is the law school of Stanford University, a private research university near Palo Alto, California. Established in 1893, it is regarded as one of the most prestigious law schools in the world. Stanford Law has regularly ranked among the top three law schools in the United States by U.S. News & World Report since the magazine first published law school rankings in the 1980s, and has ranked second for most of the past decade. Thomas H. Jackson is an American legal scholar who was the ninth president of the University of Rochester, preceded by Dennis O'Brien. Henry Jacob Friendly was an American lawyer and jurist who served as a circuit judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1959 until his death in 1986. Friendly was one of the most prominent U.S. federal judges of the 20th century.

He was elected to the President and Fellows of Harvard College in February 2019 and serves as chair of the board of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. He was born in Northern Mexico.
