The Mediterranean Games are a multi-sport games held usually every four years, between nations around or very close to the Mediterranean Sea, where Europe, Africa, and Asia meet. The games are under the auspices of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM).

Since that time Beach volleyball has been one of the core sports of the Pacific Games, required to be included for both men and women in every games. It has also been included in some of the Pacific Mini Games, starting with the seventh edition held in Palau in 2005.
Volleyball at the 2018 Asian Games was held in three venues in Indonesia. Indoor volleyball matches were held at the GBK Tennis Indoor and the Bulungan Sports Hall, Jakarta, while beach volleyball competitions were held at the JSC Beach Volley Arena, Palembang.
