Beechwood Sacred Heart School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3 – 18, which comprises a Nursery, Preparatory School and Senior School, with boarding for boys and girls aged 11 – 18. Founded by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1915, Beechwood retains its Catholic traditions but today welcomes pupils of all faiths. Beechwood is situated on a 25 acre campus in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The origins of Beechwood House date back to 1855, located on Calverley Mile Road amid a number of other Italian style Victorian villas of the time. The School celebrated its centenary in 2015. This was marked by alumni events and the collation of artifacts for a time capsule to be opened in 2065. Admission to the Senior School is via assessment in mathematics, English, non-verbal reasoning, and creative writing. Ages of admission are at 11+, 13+ and 16+. The School offers a range of GCSE (23) and A-Level courses (25). Open Days are held in October and March. Boarding is a feature of the school with significant investment in facilities in recent years. The School predominantly serves the local area in West Kent and East Sussex, but also welcomes boarders from many different nations.
The John Macoun Marsh is a small wetland located on the property of the Beechwood Cemetery, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Under the supervision of teacher Michael Léveillé, the students of St. Laurent Academy, a private school situated across the street from the marsh, have adopted the marsh as a research and conservation area. In 2004, Educarium joined with Jean Vanier Catholic School to continue the work. To date, almost 1400 species have been recorded here.
