Ben Hardy (born Ben Jones; 2 January 1991) is an English actor. He is known for playing Peter Beale in the BBC soap opera EastEnders (2013–2015). Hardy made his film debut as Archangel in the superhero film X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and played Roger Taylor in the biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody (2018).
Hardy was born in Bournemouth, Dorset, and grew up in Sherborne. He attended Sherborne Abbey Primary School and the Gryphon School. [1] As a student at Gryphon, Hardy starred as Sergeant Francis Troy in a school film adaptation of Far from the Madding Crowd . [2]
In 2012, Hardy starred as Arthur Wellesley in the David Hare play The Judas Kiss , also featuring Rupert Everett. The production initially had a limited run at the Hampstead Theatre from September to October 2012 followed by a short tour to Bath, Richmond, Brighton and Cambridge before, after rave reviews, transferring to the West End's Duke of York's Theatre in January 2013. [3] [4] His role required him to perform full frontal nudity, which he later described as "incredibly nerve-racking." [5]
On 19 April 2013, it was announced that Hardy would play Peter Beale in the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders , taking over from Thomas Law who portrayed the character from 2006 until 2010. Hardy said: "I'm really excited to be joining the fantastic cast of EastEnders – a show which my family have watched for years. I can't wait to step into the shoes of a character with so much history and am looking forward to getting stuck in." [6] He made his first appearance on 7 June 2013. On 19 November 2014, it was announced that Hardy would leave the series. [7] He made his final appearance on 24 February 2015.
Hardy made his film debut in Bryan Singer's superhero film X-Men: Apocalypse , released on 27 May 2016, co-starring as the winged mutant Archangel. [8] [9] He was subsequently cast as writer John William Polidori in Haifaa Al-Mansour's period romance film Mary Shelley , opposite Elle Fanning and Douglas Booth. [10] Hardy portrayed Granite Mountain Hotshots firefighter Wade Parker, who lost his life in the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire, in Joseph Kosinski's action-drama Only the Brave . The film, co-starring Josh Brolin and Miles Teller, was released on 22 September 2017. [11]
In April 2018, he played the lead role of Walter Hartright in the BBC adaptation of the Wilkie Collins novel The Woman in White .
Hardy played Queen drummer Roger Taylor in the 2018 biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody , which earned him a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards. [12]
In 2018, it was announced that Hardy was cast in the Netflix action thriller film 6 Underground , directed by Michael Bay. [13] The film was released on 13 December 2019. [14]
In 2020, Hardy played Frank in the movie Pixie , alongside Olivia Cooke and Daryl McCormack, among others and directed by Barnaby Thompson. [15]
In January 2021, Hardy joined the romantic film The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight , playing Oliver alongside Haley Lu Richardson. [16] As for March 2021, Hardy has been cast for the HBO MAX and BBC One series The Girl Before . [17]

X-Men: Apocalypse is a 2016 American superhero film directed and produced by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg from a story by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty, and Dan Harris. The film is based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics. It is the sixth mainline installment in the X-Men film series and the ninth installment overall. It is the sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, and Lucas Till. In the film, the ancient mutant En Sabah Nur / Apocalypse is inadvertently revived in 1983, and he plans to wipe out modern civilization and take over the world, leading the X-Men to try to stop him and defeat his team of mutants.
EastEndersLive Week is a set of five EastEnders episodes, including live elements, which was broadcast 17–20 February 2015 to mark the programme's 30th anniversary. The episodes were broadcast on BBC One and simulcast to Irish viewers on RTÉ One. The week was based around the wedding of Ian and Jane Beale, whilst concluding the "Who Killed Lucy Beale?" storyline and featuring elements of the aftermath of Nick Cotton's demise, after he collapsed in his mother Dot Branning's arms having injected himself with impure heroin on 13 February 2015. The week also featured Kim Fox-Hubbard giving birth to her daughter Pearl two months prematurely, the continuing fall out from Dean Wicks' rape of Linda Carter and the shock return of Kathy Beale, who was presumed dead nine years earlier.
Mary Shelley is a 2017 romantic period-drama film directed by Haifaa al-Mansour and written by Emma Jensen. The plot follows Mary Shelley's first love and her romantic relationship with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, which inspired her to write her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. An international co-production, the film stars Elle Fanning as Shelley, with Maisie Williams, Douglas Booth, Bel Powley, and Ben Hardy in supporting roles.
Gavin Sullivan is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera, EastEnders, played by Paul Nicholas. He first appeared on 21 August 2015. Gavin is the third husband of Kathy Mitchell and is also revealed as the biological father of Sharon Watts. He is first mentioned as Sharon's father in 1990 and as Kathy's husband in 2001, but does not appear on screen until 2015 and it is not known that Sharon's father and Kathy's husband are the same Gavin until October 2015. Viewers are informed in a 2006 episode that Kathy and Gavin are dead, but Kathy returns in February 2015, revealing that Gavin is also alive. Billed as "an EastEnders villain like no other", Gavin has been described as "dangerous", "sinister", "nasty" and "evil". His storylines include his "abusive", "controlling" and "manipulative" relationship with Kathy, kidnapping recovering alcoholic Phil Mitchell and getting him drinking again, and blackmailing Claudette Hubbard. His departure involves kidnapping Kathy, causing the death of his sister Margaret Midhurst and being arrested after threatening to kill himself and Sharon. He appeared in 30 episodes, and his final appearance is on 8 July 2016. In January 2021, Gavin was killed-off off-screen.
American Horror Story: Apocalypse is the eighth season of the FX horror anthology television series American Horror Story, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. It premiered on September 12, 2018, and concluded on November 14, 2018. The season has been described as a crossover between the first, third, and fifth seasons of the series. Apocalypse was announced on January 12, 2017.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a 2018 biographical musical drama film directed by Bryan Singer from a screenplay by Anthony McCarten, and produced by Graham King and Queen manager Jim Beach. It focuses on the life of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the British rock band Queen, from the formation of the band in 1970 to their 1985 Live Aid performance at the original Wembley Stadium. It stars Rami Malek as Mercury, with Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joe Mazzello, Aidan Gillen, Tom Hollander, and Mike Myers in supporting roles. Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor also served as consultants. A British-American venture, it was produced by Regency Enterprises, GK Films and Queen Films, and was distributed by 20th Century Fox.
Nobody's Fool is a 2018 American romantic comedy film written and directed by Tyler Perry. It stars Tiffany Haddish, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, Mehcad Brooks, Amber Riley and Whoopi Goldberg, and follows a recently paroled woman who tries to help her sister with a man who may be catfishing her.
