Benjamin Blomley (10 June 1879 – 12 March 1949) was an English cricketer active from 1903 to 1922 who played for Lancashire. He was born and died in Chadderton. He appeared in 70 first-class matches as a righthanded batsman and wicketkeeper. He scored 316 runs with a highest score of 41 and claimed 143 wicketkeeping victims with 110 catches and 33 stumpings. The Patriot is a 2000 American epic historical drama war film directed by Roland Emmerich and written by Robert Rodat. The film stars Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Joely Richardson, Jason Isaacs, Chris Cooper, and Tom Wilkinson. Set in Berkeley County, South Carolina, it follows Benjamin Martin (Gibson), an American colonist who is opposed to going to war with Great Britain but, along with his son Gabriel (Ledger), gets swept into the American Revolutionary War when his home life is disrupted, and one of his sons is murdered by a cruel British officer (Isaacs). Rodat has said Martin is a composite character based on four historical men: Andrew Pickens, Francis Marion, Daniel Morgan and Thomas Sumter.

Benjamin Ipavec was one of the foremost Slovene Romantic composers. A native of Šentjur, he lived in that town for much of his life. He was a physician in his professional life; as a composer he wrote mainly small choral pieces for amateur forces. He wrote the first Slovene operetta, titled Tičnik. His brother Gustav and nephew Josip were both active as physicians and composers as well. Ipavec died in Graz on 20 December 1908 and he was buried there two days later.
