Bitova Electronika Ltd was a Bulgarian manufacturer of electronics and military radars [1] that was established in 1960 in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria as Zavod za Radiotechnichesa aparatura (English: Factory for Radio Equipment). The first factory was located north from Veliko Tarnovo in Dervenya. Later, a new factory was built in the new south industrial zone. In 1961, the factory made the first Bulgarian radio Komsomolets. Three years later, it built PCBs.[ clarification needed ] In the next years, the radios "Progres", " Echo", "Tenor", "Lyra" and others were made by the company. [2]


Since 1975, the company manufactured Sofia televisions Sofia. The company produces the white-black television Veliko Tarnovo T3106. In 1984, the company constructed color TV, Veliko Tarnovo 84. From 84 were produced more than 2 000 000 units. The electronic products from Veliko Tarnovo take the name Resprom. [3] In 1983, 6,012 people worked in the factory. Next year were launched TV - Veliko Tarnovo 85. In the beginning of 90s, it were launched TC 5122 and TC 51015 with parts from Philips. In the 90s, the company was renamed to Bitova Electronika Ltd. It went bankrupt in 2014. [4]

Stadion Ivaylo

Stadion Ivaylo is a multi-purpose stadium in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FC Etar Veliko Tarnovo. The stadium holds 18,000 people and was built in 1958. The highest attendance ever at the venue was 40,000 on 18 September 1969 during match against Levski Sofia. The match ends with 0:2 defeat for Etar. In 1974 the stadium hosts first round of UEFA cup between Etar and Inter Milano (0:0) with attendance 27,000. On 2 October 1991, Etar secured a 1:1 draw with German champions Kaiserslautern in front of 15,000 people in the first round of the 1991-92 European Cup.

Lyaskovets Place in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria

Beer in Bulgaria

The modern history of beer in Bulgaria dates back to the 19th century, when it was introduced to the country by foreigners shortly before the Liberation of Bulgaria. Until then, beer was practically unknown in what used to be a mainly rakia and wine-drinking country. Today, Bulgaria ranks 15th by beer consumption per capita, with 73 litres a year.

The Battle of Ihtiman occurred in 1355 between Bulgarians and Ottomans and resulted in an Ottoman victory. The exact location is not known, but in an anonymous Bulgarian chronicle, it is mentioned that the armies of Michail Asen engaged the invading forces before they could reach Sofia.

Medieval Bulgarian army

The medieval Bulgarian army was the primary military body of the First and the Second Bulgarian Empires, and some Puppet states of the former, like the Despotate of Dobruja. During the first decades after the foundation of the country, the army consisted of a Bulgar cavalry and a Slavic infantry. The core of the Bulgarian army was the heavy cavalry, which consisted of ca. 12,000 heavily armed riders. At its height in the 9th and 10th centuries, it was one of the most formidable military forces in Europe and was feared by its enemies. There are several documented cases of Byzantine commanders abandoning an invasion because of a reluctance to confront the Bulgarian army on its home territory.
