History

The band formed in 2012, initially under the name Shrine, and released a debut self-released EP Closer to the Sun in 2014. [1] [2]

After a run of UK and European festivals and tours, the band signed to RED Music for the release of their debut album Statues in 2016.

The album was well received, and singles 'Glass Built Castles' and 'Saviour' brought the band support from Zane Lowe, Daniel P. Carter and daytime airplay on BBC Radio 1. [3] [4]

This increased profile resulted in a busy touring schedule across 2016-2017, including dates supporting Deftones, System of a Down, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Prophets of Rage and Mastodon. [5]

Towards the end of 2017, the band announced that they had parted ways with bassist Andrew Gosden, replaced with new member Dave Larkin, [6] and were at the time in the studio recording their second album, titled All That Divides. All That Divides was released in October 2018.

In January 2019, Black Peaks supported UK group Enter Shikari on their second leg of the Stop the Clocks tour. [7]

On July 26, 2021, the band announced that they have decided to break up, citing that they "have reached a point where we don't feel we can continue in a way that is healthy for us." [8]

Musical style

Black Peaks have been described as progressive rock, [9] [10] [1] [2] [11] [12] [13] hardcore punk, [12] [13] heavy metal, [14] [1] [13] math rock, [1] [13] post-rock, [1] [13] alternative rock [1] and sludge metal [13] and have been compared to the likes of Mastodon, [1] [15] Oceansize, [1] [15] System of a Down, [11] Muse, [11] Tool [11] and The Dillinger Escape Plan. The Dillinger Escape Plan was an American metalcore band. The band was formed in 1997 in Morris Plains, New Jersey by guitarist Ben Weinman, bassist Adam Doll, vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, and drummer Chris Pennie. The band's use of odd time signatures, polyrhythms and unconventional drum patterns became a staple of their sound, although later albums incorporated more melody, and influences from a range of genres. Mastodon has released seven studio albums, as well as a number of other releases. The band's 2002 debut album, Remission, garnered significant critical acclaim for its unique sound. Mastodon's second full-length release, Leviathan, is a concept album based on the novel Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. Three magazines awarded the record Album of the Year in 2004: Revolver, Kerrang! and Terrorizer.

Enter Shikari British rock band

Enter Shikari are a British rock band formed in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England in 1999 by bassist Chris Batten, lead vocalist and keyboardist Rou Reynolds, and drummer Rob Rolfe. In 2003, guitarist Rory Clewlow joined the band to complete its current lineup, and it adopted its current name. In 2006, they performed to a growing fanbase at Download Festival as well as a sold-out concert at the London Astoria. Their debut studio album, Take to the Skies, was released in 2007 and reached number 4 in the Official UK Album Chart, and has since been certified gold in the UK. Their second, Common Dreads, was released in 2009 and debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 16; while their third, A Flash Flood of Colour, was released in 2012 and debuted on the chart at number 4. Both have since been certified silver in the UK. The band spent a considerable amount of time supporting the latter release through the A Flash Flood of Colour World Tour, before beginning work on a fourth studio album, The Mindsweep, which was released in 2015. Their fifth studio album The Spark was released in 2017. Their sixth album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible was released in April 2020.

Creeper (band)

Creeper are an English rock band from Southampton. Formed in 2014, the group originally featured vocalist Will Gould, guitarists Ian Miles and Sina Nemati, bassist Sean Scott and drummer Dan Bratton. The band independently released their self-titled debut EP in 2014, before signing with Roadrunner Records and issuing a follow-up, The Callous Heart, the next year. At the end of 2015, Nemati was replaced by Oliver Burdett and touring keyboardist/vocalist Hannah Greenwood became an official member of the band. A third EP, The Stranger, was released in 2016 and reached the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart top ten.

<i>Backstreet Symphony</i> 1990 studio album by Thunder

Backstreet Symphony is the debut studio album by English hard rock band Thunder. Recorded in 1989 at Great Linford Manor Studios in Milton Keynes, it was produced by former Duran Duran and The Power Station guitarist Andy Taylor, then mixed by Mike Fraser at AIR Studios in London. The album was initially released on 5 March 1990 by EMI Records in the UK and Capitol Records in the US, and was later re-released the following year in the US by Geffen Records.

Daniel P. Carter British musician and radio DJ

Daniel Philip Carter also known by his stage name "Denial P. Cartier", is a British musician and radio DJ. He is the former singer and guitarist for hardcore punk band Hexes, the former bassist for A, the former lead guitarist for alternative rock band Bloodhound Gang and current guitarist for metal group Krokodil. Daniel is also the host of BBC Radio 1's Rock Show.

Young Guns (band) English alternative rock band

Young Guns are an English alternative rock band from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The members, working with each other in various musical interests throughout the 2000s, formally formed the band in 2008, and rose to prominence after their debut EP, Mirrors, earned them spots opening live shows for Bon Jovi and Guns N' Roses. Their debut album, All Our Kings Are Dead, on 12 July 2010. Their second album, Bones, was released in February 2012. Their single "Bones" reached no. 1 on the Billboard Active Rock charts in the US in May 2013. Their third album, Ones and Zeros, was released on 9 June 2015. The band's fourth album, Echoes, was released on September 16, 2016.

Letlive

Letlive, stylized letlive., was an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band's final lineup consisted of lead vocalist Jason Aalon Butler, guitarist Jeff Sahyoun, bassist Ryan Jay Johnson and drummer Loniel Robinson. Butler was the band's only constant member. The band has released four full-length albums and one EP, with their final album If I'm the Devil being released on June 10, 2016. The band was last signed to Epitaph Records.

Red Fang Band

Red Fang is an American rock band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2005. It is composed of guitarist and vocalist Bryan Giles, bassist and vocalist Aaron Beam, guitarist David Sullivan and drummer John Sherman. The band has released five studio albums: Red Fang (2009), Murder the Mountains (2011), Whales and Leeches (2013), Only Ghosts (2016) and Arrows (2021).

Killer Be Killed

Killer Be Killed is an American heavy metal supergroup founded by Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato and Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera in early 2011. The lineup also features Mastodon bassist and co-vocalist Troy Sanders and Converge drummer Ben Koller. The band had slowly been working on material before announcing its name in October 2013, along with their signing to Nuclear Blast. The group's self-titled debut record was released on May 13, 2014. On September 4, 2020, the group returned with a new single, and released their second album Reluctant Hero on November 20, 2020.

Pvris American alternative rock band

PVRIS is an alternative-pop act formed by multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer Lyndsey Gunnulfsen and Brian Macdonald. Over their decade-long career, Pvris has released three studio LPs: White Noise in November 2014 featuring the hits "You and I," and "My House", All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell in 2017 featuring "What's Wrong", and Use Me in 2020 featuring "Hallucinations". In 2021, PVRIS released their latest single via Warner Records.

Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes

Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes are an English punk rock band formed in 2015 by frontman Frank Carter with guitarist Dean Richardson. Famed for their raucous live shows, the band released their debut album Blossom in 2015, and the follow-ups Modern Ruin in 2017 and End of Suffering in 2019. Their fourth album, Sticky, is due for release in October 2021.

Milk Teeth were a British punk rock band from Stroud, Gloucestershire, which formed in May 2013. The band announced their split on Facebook and Twitter on 4th September 2020.

Blood Youth

Blood Youth are a British hardcore punk band formed in Harrogate in 2014 by ex-Climates members Sam Bowden, Matt Powels, Chris Pritchard and Max Dawson, before recruiting ex-Book of Job lead vocalist Kaya Tarsus. After releasing their debut EP, Inside My Head, in 2015 and embarking on a short, headlining tour of their native UK to support it, drummer Matt Powels departed in late 2015 to become the drum tech for Neck Deep, he was followed by Bowden, who is now playing lead guitar in Neck Deep. In March 2016, the band released their second EP, Closure, accompanied by a music video for the title track. Later that year, they announced they had begun recording their debut album, which would be titled Beyond Repair, then being released on Rude Records on 7 April 2017.

Loathe (band) British metal band

Loathe are an English heavy metal band from Liverpool. Formed in 2014, the group consists of lead vocalist Kadeem France, guitarist and second vocalist Erik Bickerstaffe, guitarist Connor Sweeney, drummer Sean Radcliffe and bassist Feisal El-Khazragi.

Idles English rock band

Idles are a British rock band formed in Bristol in 2009. The band consists of Welsh singer Joe Talbot (vocals) and Northern Irish musician Mark Bowen (guitar) as well as English musicians Lee Kiernan (guitar), Adam Devonshire (bass) and Jon Beavis (drums). Their debut album, Brutalism, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim, as was their second album Joy as an Act of Resistance in 2018. Their third album, Ultra Mono, was released on 25 September 2020.

Tigress (band)

Tigress are a British rock band from Chelmsford, England. Formed in September 2015, the band consists of vocalist Katy Jackson, guitarists Tom Harrison and Sean Bishop, bassist Jack Divey and drummer Josh Coombes. The band is currently signed to Humble Angel Records. They were previously signed to LAB Records where they released their debut EP Human on 13 November 2015, follow up EP Like It Is on 12 May 2017 and 2018 EP Who Cares. All three releases were met with much acclaim across a number of major and independent music publications.
