Boomerang was a German pay television channel broadcasting kids programming. It was launched on 1 June 2006 and it was owned by Turner Broadcasting System Europe.

Pay television or subscription television are subscription-based television services, usually provided by both analog and digital cable and satellite television, but also increasingly via digital terrestrial and internet television. Subscription television began in the multi-channel transition and transitioned into the post-network era. Some parts of the world, notably in France and the United States, have also offered encrypted analog terrestrial signals available for subscription.

Turner Broadcasting System Europe is the company managing the collection of cable and satellite networks around Europe, Middle East and Africa. Turner Broadcasting System Europe operates the following brands: CNN International, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, Cartoon Network, Boing, truTV, HLN, Toonami, Warner TV and Cartoonito. The availability of these brands depends on what country in Europe, Middle East and Africa the viewer is from. The most available brands include Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN and Turner Classic Movies. In 2019, Turner EMEA will be moving to their new headquarters in Old Street, Shoreditch, London. The new headquarters will have more office space allowing room for the company's European operations to expand and a brand new custom-built CNN newsroom.

Broadcasting

In August 2013, SES Platform Services (now MX1) won an international tender by Turner Broadcasting System, to provide playout services for Boomerang, and for Cartoon Network, TNT Glitz, TNT Film and TNT Serie (in both SD and HD) for the German-speaking market, digitization of existing Turner content, and playout for Turner on-demand and catch-up services in Germany, Austria, Switzerland the Benelux region, from November 2013. [1]

SES Platform Services

SES Platform Services GmbH is a subsidiary company of SES based in Betzdorf, Luxembourg. From its headquarters in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany, SES Platform Services operates a broadcasting centre, providing a wide range of services, including content management, playout, encryption, multiplexing, satellite uplinks and other digital TV media broadcast services for the broadcast industry.

MX1 Ltd

MX1 is a global media services provider founded in July 2016 from a merger between digital media services companies, RR Media and SES Platform Services. MX1 is a wholly owned subsidiary of global satellite owner and operator, SES.

In broadcasting, playout is a term for the transmission of radio or TV channels from the broadcaster into broadcast networks that delivers the content to the audience. Those networks can consist of terrestrial transmitters for analogue or digital radio and TV, cable networks or satellites.

M7 Group's Kabelkiosk stopped broadcasting of Boomerang on 1 March 2017.

M7 Group S.A. is a Luxembourg based media company which operates several Direct Broadcast Satellite Pay TV platforms: Austriasat in Austria, TéléSAT Numérique and TV Vlaanderen in Belgium, Skylink in Czech Republic and Slovakia., KabelKiosk in Germany, CanalDigitaal, Stipte, Fibernederland and Online.nl in the Netherlands.

On October 1st 2018, Boomerang shut down and was replaced with Boomerang CEE. [2]

Cartoon Network refers to two digital children's TV channels broadcasting animated programs: Cartoon Network MENA, which serves the Middle East and North Africa region along with Cyprus; and Cartoon Network Africa, which serves Sub-Saharan Africa. Cartoon Network was created by Turner Broadcasting System. Cartoon Network UK/Europe was launched on September 17, 1993. In October 1999, Cartoon Network UK became a separate feed from Cartoon Network HQ, but initially had a nearly identical schedule to Cartoon Network HQ until the latter became completely independent from the UK feed in 2001.

Currently, Cartoon Network is the second most-watched kids and teens' channel in Portugal, recently surpassing Canal Panda and is now only behind Disney Channel.
