Brlog (pronounced [bəɾˈlɔk] ) is a small settlement in the Gorjanci Hills in the Municipality of Krško in eastern Slovenia. The area was traditionally part of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region. [2]
The Municipality of Krško is a municipality in eastern Slovenia. Its seat is the town of Krško. The area is traditionally divided between Lower Styria and Lower Carniola. The entire municipality is now included in the Lower Sava statistical region.

Lower Carniola is a traditional region in Slovenia, the southeastern part of the historical Carniola region.
In 1973 a flash flood uncovered the entrance to Levak Cave (Slovene : Levakova jama). Speleologists found a human skull and other small artefacts. In 1975 the cave was excavated to reveal prehistoric Bronze Age and Roman occupation levels. [3]
A flash flood is a rapid flooding of low-lying areas: washes, rivers, dry lakes and basins. It may be caused by heavy rain associated with a severe thunderstorm, hurricane, tropical storm, or meltwater from ice or snow flowing over ice sheets or snowfields. Flash floods may occur after the collapse of a natural ice or debris dam, or a human structure such as a man-made dam, as occurred before the Johnstown Flood of 1889. Flash floods are distinguished from regular floods by having a timescale of fewer than six hours between rainfall and the onset of flooding. The water that is temporarily available is often used by plants with rapid germination and short growth cycles and by specially adapted animal life.
Slovene or Slovenian belongs to the group of South Slavic languages. It is spoken by approximately 2.5 million speakers worldwide, the majority of whom live in Slovenia. It is the first language of about 2.1 million Slovenian people and is one of the 24 official and working languages of the European Union.
Speleology is the scientific study of caves and other karst features, as well as their make-up, structure, physical properties, history, life forms, and the processes by which they form (speleogenesis) and change over time (speleomorphology). The term speleology is also sometimes applied to the recreational activity of exploring caves, but this is more properly known as caving or potholing, or by the uncommon American term spelunking. Speleology and caving are often connected, as the physical skills required for in situ study are the same.
