Club Baloncesto Axarquía, more known by its sponsorship name of Clinicas Rincón Axarquía, was a basketball team based in Málaga, Andalusia.

Basketball Team sport

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball through the defender's hoop while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one or more one-point free throws. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but if regulation play expires with the score tied, an additional period of play (overtime) is mandated.

It is administered by the FEB. It was previously the Spanish second tier level competition from 1994 to 1996, the third tier level from 1996 to 2000, and the fifth tier level, from 2007 to 2009.

Farm team Sports club whose role is to provide experience and training for young players

In sports, a farm team, farm system, feeder team, or nursery club is generally a team or club whose role is to provide experience and training for young players, with an agreement that any successful players can move on to a higher level at a given point, usually in an association with a major-level parent team. This system can be implemented in many ways, both formally and informally. It is not to be confused with a practice squad, which fulfills a similar developmental purpose but the players on the practice squad are members of the parent team.

In July 2013, when Unicaja was going to resign to continue with its reserve team in LEB Plata, a local entrepreneur rescued CB Axarquía and achieved a vacant berth in LEB Oro. [1] Axarquía agreed also new collaboration terms with Unicaja and now is playing again as farm team.

Baloncesto Málaga Spanish basketball team

Baloncesto Málaga, S.A.D., for sponsorship reasons named Unicaja, is a Spanish professional basketball team that is based in Málaga, Spain. The team plays in the Liga ACB and the EuroCup. The team is sponsored by the Spanish bank Unicaja.

In March 2015 it was announced CB Axarquía would leave the professional leagues at the end of the season and would restart its project at Liga EBA, [2] but finally the club accepted to play in LEB Plata.

One year later, CB Axarquía would be dissolved due to the lack of support. Manolo Rincón, president and sponsor of the club, accepted the proposal of Unicaja Málaga to sponsor all the youth teams of the club. [3]
