Graduate Theological Union

The Graduate Theological Union (GTU) is a consortium of eight private independent American theological schools and eleven centers and affiliates. Seven of the theological schools are located in Berkeley, California. The GTU was founded in 1962 and has established a relationship with the University of California, Berkeley that allows students from both institutions enjoying privileges accorded to their own students. Additionally, some of the GTU consortial schools are part of other California universities such as Santa Clara University and California Lutheran University. Most of the GTU consortial schools are located in Berkeley around the campus of University of California, Berkeley, with the majority north of the campus in a neighborhood known as "Holy Hill" due to the cluster of GTU seminaries and centers located there.

Martinez "Marty" Joseph Hewlett is Professor Emeritus of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona. He received his PhD in 1973 and served in David Baltimore's laboratory. His specialty is researching Bunyaviridae. He is an adjunct professor at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology of the Graduate Theological Union and a lay member of the Dominican Order. Heup Young Kim is a Korean Christian theologian and a scholar of East Asian religions, specialized in Asian constructive theology, interfaith dialogue, and religion and science. He is the founding director of the Korea Forum for Science and Life and was Professor of Systematic Theology at Kangnam University in South Korea where he also served as a dean of the College of Humanities and Liberal arts, the Graduate School of Theology, and the University Chapel. Kim is one of the founding members and fellows of the International Society for Science and Religion and was a co-moderator of the 6th and 7th Congress of Asian Theologians as well as a president of the Korean Society of Systematic Theology.
