Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. As a celebrator of beauty and especially feminine sensuality, it has been said that "Renoir is the final representative of a tradition which runs directly from Rubens to Watteau."

Villeneuve-Loubet is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. It lies between Cagnes-sur-Mer and Antibes, at the mouth of the river Loup, ten kilometres west of central Nice.

Beaulieu-sur-Mer, commonly referred to simply as Beaulieu, is a seaside commune on the French Riviera between Nice and the Principality of Monaco. Located in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, it borders the communes of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Villefranche-sur-Mer, not far from Èze to the northeast. In 2018, Beaulieu-sur-Mer had a population of 3,731. Its inhabitants are called Berlugans (masculine) and Berluganes (feminine).

Nice metropolitan area as defined by INSEE in 2021 is the functional urban area or commuting zone of the city of Nice, southeastern France. It covers 100 communes, has 1,103,527 inhabitants (2021) and an area of 2,073 km2. It partly overlaps with the urban unit of Nice, which covers some cities, e.g. Antibes, Grasse and Cannes, that are part of the functional area Cannes-Antibes.
Tourrettes-sur-Loup is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. It has been called Tourrettes-sur-Loup ever since the early twentieth century although prior to that it was known as Tourrettes-les-Vence, a name that arose in the sixteenth century and lasted until the French revolution. This is an artisan's village situated near Vence. It features medieval and Romanesque buildings.
Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. It comprises two small villages: Le Rayol and Canadel. They are situated along the D559 which goes along the coast at an average distance of approximately 200 metres from the sea. Rayol-Canadel-Sur-Mer is in between Cavaliere and Cavalaire-sur-mer. There are villas above and below the road on the hillside facing the sea and there is a view of L'Ile du Levant and L'Ile de Port-Cros.

The Canton of Saint-Laurent-du-Var-Cagnes-sur-Mer-Est is a former French canton, located in the arrondissement of Grasse, in the Alpes-Maritimes département. It had 37,102 inhabitants (2012).
Anders Osterlind, a French painter, was born in Lépaud (Creuse) on June 12, 1887. He died in Paris on January 5, 1960. He was the son of the painter Allan Österlind and the father of watercolorist Nanic Osterlind.
Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur is the métropole, an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Nice. It is located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, southeastern France. It was created in December 2011, replacing the previous Communauté urbaine Nice Côte d'Azur and the communautés de communes of les stations du Mercantour, La Tinée and Vésubie-Mercantour. In 2013 the commune Coaraze left the métropole, and in 2014 the communes Bonson, Le Broc, Gattières and Gilette joined it. In January 2022 the communes Drap and Châteauneuf-Villevieille joined the métropole. Its area is 1479.7 km2. Its population was 545,873 in 2018, of which 341,032 are located in Nice proper.
Aline Victorine Charigot was a model for Auguste Renoir and later became his wife while continuing to model for him and then caring for him when he became disabled. She is pictured in many of his paintings over very many years, most famously in the early 1880s Luncheon of the Boating Party, and Blonde Bather. They had three children together, two of whom, Pierre and Jean, went on to have distinguished careers in film, and the third, Claude, became a ceramic artist. Pierre had a son Claude who became the well-known cinematographer. She predeceased her elderly husband.
