Canik Başarı University (Turkish : Canik Başarı Üniversitesi), başarı meaning "success", was a private university in Canik, a district of Samsun, Turkey.

Contents

Established in 2012 and directed by a foundation ("Vakıf" in Turkish), it constituted the first private university in Samsun Province, [1] [2] The university was one out of fifteen private universities that were closed by the Turkish government in the course of the 2016 Turkish purges following the 15 July failed coup attempt. [3]

Bahçeşehir University (BAU) is a private educational institution in Turkey, located around the Bosporus in Istanbul. The Turkish National Assembly authorized the establishment of the University of Bahçeşehir by the Bahçeşehir Uğur Education Foundation in 1998. An academic and strategic protocol was signed shortly after with San Diego State University in California, USA. The enrollment of the first students was made after the first placement exam (ÖSYS) in the 1999–2000 academic year. The university is one of the few universities in Turkey which has its lectures in English and therefore students applying to BAU are required to have high English proficiency.

Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium, also known as Canik 19 Mayıs Stadium from 2017 until its demolition in 2018, was a multi-purpose stadium in the Canik district of Samsun, northern Turkey. It was used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of Samsunspor until the new Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium was opened in 2017. The stadium had a seating capacity for 16,480 spectators. It was demolished in 2018.

Bursa Orhangazi University, named after Ottoman bey Orhan Gazi, was a private university in Bursa, Turkey. Established in 2011, the university was one out of fifteen private universities that were closed by the Turkish government in the course of the 2016 Turkish purges. On July 23, 2016, the university was closed down by the Decree Law on Measures Taken under the State of Emergency (OHAL).

İzmir University was a university in the Üçkuyular neighborhood of Karabağlar, a metropolitan district of İzmir, Turkey. It was established in 2007 by the Doğanata Education and Culture Foundation, which opened in 2008. On 23 July 2016, in the course of the 2016 Turkish purges, the university was closed by the Turkish government due to its alleged ties with the Gülen movement. The staff of the university rejected the accusations.

Samsun City Hospital is a full-service city hospital located in the Canik district of Samsun, Turkey that is under construction. Construction began in 2020 with estimated completion in late 2023. It is expected to be the largest hospital in Samsun Province and the Black Sea Region.
