Michael Earl Smith is an American jockey who has been one of the leading riders in U.S. Thoroughbred racing since the early 1990s, was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2003, and has won the most Breeders' Cup races of any jockey with 26 Breeders' Cup wins. Smith is also the second leading jockey of all time in earnings with over $312 million. In 2018, Smith rode Justify to the Triple Crown, becoming the oldest jockey to win the title at age 52.

Band of Gold is a British television crime drama series, written and created by Kay Mellor, that first broadcast on ITV on 12 March 1995. Produced by Granada Television, the series revolves around the lives of a group of sex workers who live and work in Bradford's red-light district. Principal cast members for the series include Geraldine James, Cathy Tyson, Barbara Dickson and Samantha Morton. Three series of Band of Gold were produced, with the final episode broadcasting on 1 December 1997.

The Rosecomb is a breed of chicken named for its distinctive comb. Rosecombs are bantam chickens, and are among those known as true bantams, meaning they are not a miniaturised version of a large fowl. Rosecombs are one of the oldest and most popular bantam breeds in showing, and thus have numerous variations within the breed. An ornamental chicken, they are poor egg layers and not suited for meat production.
"Es ist ein Ros entsprungen", is a Christmas carol and Marian Hymn of German origin. It is most commonly translated in English as "Lo, how a rose e'er blooming", and is sometimes known as "A Spotless Rose" or "Behold a Rose of Judah". The rose in the text is a symbolic reference to the Virgin Mary, and the hymn makes reference to the Old Testament prophecies of Isaiah which in Christian interpretation foretell the Incarnation of Christ, and to the Tree of Jesse, a traditional symbol of the lineage of Jesus. Because of its prophetic theme, the song is popular during the Christian season of Advent.

Dale L. Romans is an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer, best known for winning the 2011 Preakness Stakes with Shackleford and the Breeders' Cup Turf with Little Mike. Dove-Myer Robinson Park, more commonly known as the Parnell Rose Garden, is a park containing a rose garden in Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand. Some of the plants in the garden have been bred by internationally celebrated rose breeders and each year in November, the park is host to the Parnell Festival of Roses, which showcases New Zealand craft stalls, art exhibitions, music, strolling performers and thousands of roses. The park is named after Dove-Myer Robinson, the longest-serving mayor of Auckland, who served for 18 years.
Floribunda is a modern group of garden roses that was developed by crossing hybrid teas with polyantha roses, the latter being derived from crosses between Rosa chinensis and Rosa multiflora. The idea was to create roses that bloomed with the polyantha profusion, but with hybrid tea floral beauty and colour range.
An ADR rose is a winner in the German ADR rose trial. No chemical pesticides have been allowed since 1997 and breeders often describe the trial as among the most challenging in the world. The trial is set up by a working group that includes the Bund deutscher Baumschulen, rose breeders, and eleven independent trial stations in Germany. The trial results are analyzed by the Bundessortenamt.

The 2018 Breeders' Cup World Championships was the 35th edition of the premier event of the North American thoroughbred horse racing year. The races were telecast by NBCSN on Friday and early Saturday, and by NBC later on Saturday. The Breeders' Cup is generally regarded as the end of the North American racing season, although a few Grade I events take place in later November and December. The event typically determines champions in many of the Eclipse Award divisions, although it was missing the eventual Horse of the Year, Triple Crown champion Justify, who was retired in July.
