Celebrity Fit Club is a reality television series which followed eight overweight celebrities as they tried to lose weight.
This show is based on the homonymous British version, which aired on the ITV Network from 2002 until 2006. The American version was executive produced by Richard Hall for Granada, in seasons 2–5.
ITV is a British free-to-air television network with its headquarters in London, it was launched in 1955 as Independent Television under the auspices of the Independent Television Authority to provide competition to BBC Television, that was established in 1932. ITV is also the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, its legal name has been Channel 3, to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, namely BBC 1, BBC 2 and Channel 4. In part, the number 3 was assigned because television sets would usually be tuned so that the regional ITV station would be on the third button, with the other stations being allocated to the number within their name.
Split into two competing teams of four members, each week teams are given different physical challenges and their members weighed to see if they reached their target goal weights. Contestants are monitored and supervised by a team comprising a nutritionist, a psychologist, and a physical trainer. The series was hosted by Ant until Season 7.
Anthony Steven Kalloniatis is an American stand-up comedian and actor, best known by his stage name Ant.
At one point during each of the first five seasons, a team trade-off was initiated, in which the fit clubbers voted one member off their team. The teammate with the most votes was then traded to the other team. In the case of a tie, the team captain made the final vote. After Season 1, a new rule was enforced prohibiting fit clubbers from voting for themselves. In Season 5, to balance the gender-based teams, a new twist was added, which allowed traded fit clubbers to choose a teammate from their old team to join their new team. In Season 6, Harvey did the trade-off himself; Season 7 did not have one.
Harvey Walden IV is a former United States Marine drill instructor, author, actor and television host.
A drill instructor is a non-commissioned officer in the armed forces or police forces with specific duties that vary by country. For example, in the United States armed forces, they are assigned the duty of training new recruits entering the military.
Linda Papadopoulos is a Canadian psychologist based in England. She is the author of books such as Becoming a Therapist, Psychodermatology, Psychological Approaches to Dermatology, the popular psychology books The Man Manual and What Men Say What Women Hear, which make the claim that there are inherent gender differences in relationships, and Mirror Mirror: Dr Linda's Body Image Revolution, a book on using cognitive behavioural therapy to promote a healthy body image.
