Close to the station is Jalan Cipete Raya (Cipete Raya Street), hence its name.
Cipete Raya Station was officially opened, along with the rest of Phase 1 of the Jakarta MRT on 24 March 2019 . [2]

Blok M is a business and shopping quarter located in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Indonesia. It runs east from Iskandarsyah street to Bulungan street in the west. North from Falatehan street to Melawai street in the south. The development is similar to some developments near Kota, West Jakarta. Kebayoran Baru is a district in the administrative city of South Jakarta, Indonesia. The name was derived from a planned satellite city of the same name which was developed in the post-war period. Kebayoran Baru was the last residential area to be developed by the Dutch colonial administration. The urban planning was laid in a concept of the Garden city movement, consisting of a well-planned residential area, a shopping center, and a business district, supported with civic facilities such as schools, places of worship, hospitals, and parks. Located nearby the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, it is currently the terminus of the North-South Line, as the phase 2 construction of the line is underway. The station is located in the Gondangdia area of Menteng, Central Jakarta and is built underneath Jalan M.H. Thamrin. Jakarta MRT users can continue their journey with Transjakarta's Corridor 1 service from this station via the Bundaran HI bus stop located above. This connection with Transjakarta is in the form of stairs so it is not disabled friendly. The station only has two railroad tracks equipped with a Buffer stop and a Railroad switch on the south side. The switch is used to move MRT trains that were originally on the left track to the right, or vice versa.

The station is located in the Kebon Melati area of Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta and is built under Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. As part of the Dukuh Atas TOD, the station is connected to many connecting transportation services, such as the Jabodetabek Commuter Line, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Express Train, and Transjakarta. The station has only two railway lines separated by an island platform in the middle. This station is the deepest railway station in Indonesia, as the station is 24 meters underground, given its close proximity to the Ciliwung river.
