Civil Lines is a Civil Lines residential area built by the British Raj in Faisalabad, Punjab. It was built for the civil officers. [1]

Civil Lines are the residential neighborhoods developed during the British Raj for its senior officers. These townships were built all over the Indian subcontinent and were allotted to civil officers in the respective countries. This is distinct from Forts and Cantonments, which were expressedly military establishments.

The British Raj was the rule by the British Crown in the Indian subcontinent from 1858 to 1947. The rule is also called Crown rule in India, or direct rule in India. The region under British control was commonly called British India or simply India in contemporaneous usage, and included areas directly administered by the United Kingdom, which were collectively called British India, and those ruled by indigenous rulers, but under British tutelage or paramountcy, and called the princely states. The whole was also informally called the Indian Empire. As India, it was a founding member of the League of Nations, a participating nation in the Summer Olympics in 1900, 1920, 1928, 1932, and 1936, and a founding member of the United Nations in San Francisco in 1945.

Faisalabad, formerly known as Lyallpur, is the third-most-populous city in Pakistan, and the second-largest in the eastern province of Punjab. Historically one of the first planned cities within British India, it has long since developed into a cosmopolitan metropolis. Faisalabad was restructured into city district status; a devolution promulgated by the 2001 local government ordinance (LGO). The total area of Faisalabad District is 5,856 km2 (2,261 sq mi) while the area controlled by the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) is 1,280 km2 (490 sq mi). Faisalabad has grown to become a major industrial and distribution centre because of its central location in the region and connecting roads, rails, and air transportation. It has been referred to as the "Manchester of Pakistan". Faisalabad contributes over 20 percent of Punjab's GDP, and has an average annual GDP of $20.5 billion. Agriculture and industry remain its hallmark.

National University of Modern Languages

The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) is a public university with its main campus located in Islamabad, Pakistan and other satellite campuses in different cities of Pakistan. It was established as an institute in 1969 and upgraded to university on May 29, 2000. It offers undergraduate and post-graduate programs in languages, linguistics, social sciences, communications, engineering, management sciences and computer sciences. It is one of the largest university in the country. In 2013, the university was ranked in top 15 by the Higher Education Commission (Pakistan) (HEC) "general category" ranking.

Faisalabad railway station

Faisalabad railway station is located in Faisalabad city, Punjab province of Pakistan on the Khanewal-Wazirabad Branch Line. The station grants passengers from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar and many more cities and towns of Pakistan access to all parts of Pakistan. The administrative office, headed by an Assistant Operation Officer, of the Faislabad section of Pakistan Railways is also located in the station building. A large amount of cargo is exported from and imported into Faisalabad daily.

Pindi Club Ground is a multi-use stadium in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. It is used mostly for cricket matches. The stadium has the capacity to hold 15,000 people and hosted its first and only Test Match in 1965. In April 2018, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the venue, along with several others in the country, would get a makeover to get them ready for future international matches and fixtures in the Pakistan Super League.
