"Cosmic" is a song recorded by South Korean girl group Red Velvet for their seventh Korean extended play of the same name. Written by Kenzie, Jonatan Gusmark, Ludvig Evers, Adrian McKinnon, and Ellen Berg, it was released as the EP's lead single by SM Entertainment on June 24, 2024.
On June 10, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that Red Velvet would be releasing their seventh Korean extended play titled Cosmic. [1] On June 13, it was announced that the lead single would be titled "Cosmic". [2] On June 23, the music video teaser was released. [3] The song was released alongside its music video and the extended play on June 24. [4]
"Cosmic" was written, composed, and arranged by Kenzie, with Jonatan Gusmark, Ludvig Evers, Adrian McKinnon, and Ellen Berg participating in the composition, and Moonshine participating in the arrangement. [5] It was described as a dance-pop song characterized by "synth strings and disco rhythm" with "fairytale-like" lyrics about "about meeting [the listener], a lonely traveler who crash-landed on [Red Velvet] and learning about infinite love like the universe". [6] "Cosmic" was composed in the key of C-sharp major, with a tempo of 106 beats per minute. [7]
"Cosmic" debuted at number 26 on South Korea's Circle Digital Chart in the chart issue dated June 23–29, 2024; [8] on its component charts, the song debuted at number three on the Circle Download Chart, [9] number 64 on the Circle Streaming Chart, [10] and number 30 on the Circle BGM Chart. [11] In New Zealand, the song debuted at number 36 on the RMNZ Hot Singles in the chart issue dated July 1, 2024. [12] In United Kingdom, the song debuted at number 90 on the OCC's UK Singles Download Chart, [13] and number 93 on the OCC's UK Singles Sales Chart in the chart issue dated July 5–11, 2024. [14]
Prior to the release of Cosmic, on June 24, 2024, Red Velvet held a live event called "Red Velvet 'Cosmic' Countdown Live" on YouTube, TikTok, and Weverse, aimed at introducing the extended play and its songs, including "Cosmic", and connecting with their fanbase. [15] They subsequently performed on three music programs in the first week of promotion: Mnet's M Countdown on June 27, [16] KBS's Music Bank on June 28, [17] and SBS's Inkigayo on June 30. [18] In the second week of promotion, they performed on three music programs: M Countdown on July 4, [19] Music Bank on July 5, [20] and Show! Music Core on July 6. [21]

Park Soo-young, better known by her stage name Joy, is a South Korean singer, actress, and host. She debuted as a member of South Korean girl group Red Velvet in August 2014. In 2017, Joy debuted as an actress and has had starring roles in the television dramas The Liar and His Lover (2017), Tempted (2018), The One and Only (2021), and Once Upon a Small Town (2022). In 2021, Joy officially debuted as a soloist with the release of her special album Hello.
Shon Seung-wan, better known by her stage name Wendy (Korean: 웬디), is a South Korean singer. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Red Velvet. In 2021, she made her solo debut with the EP Like Water. In 2022, she became a member of SM Entertainment's supergroup Got the Beat.

The song, alongside its vacation-themed music video, was released on August 20, 2019, as the lead single from Day 2. Written by Jeon Gan-di and composed by Christoffer Lauridsen, Andreas Öberg and Allison Kaplan, "Umpah Umpah" is described as "an uptempo dance song with disco house rhythms", with the group's "lovely and cool vocals doubling the freshness".
