Costa de Valencia in Spain

The Costa de Valencia is coastline and tourism region of the province of Valencia in Spain. It covers the coast along the Gulf of Valencia on the Balearic Sea in western part of the Mediterranean Sea. It extends from the Camp de Morvedre in the north to Safor in the south.

The Costa de Valencia has the most beaches with Blue Flag status in Spain. [1]

To its north is the Costa del Azahar (in province of Castellón) and to the south lies the Costa Blanca (in the province of Alicante).

Climate

Valencia region have a Mediterranean climate (Köppen: Csa) bordering on a semi-arid climate (Köppen: BSh) [2] [3] with mild winters and warm to hot, dry summers. [4] [5]

Europe is generally characterized by a temperate climate. Most of Western Europe has an Oceanic climate, in the Köppen climate classification, featuring cool to warm summers and cool winters with frequent overcast skies. Southern Europe has a distinctively Mediterranean climate, which features warm to hot, dry summers and cool to mild winters and frequent sunny skies. The climate of Spain is highly diverse and varies considerably across the country's various regions. Spain is the most climatically diverse country in Europe with 13 different Köppen climates.

Madrid and its metropolitan area has a cold semi-arid climate which transitions to a mediterranean climate (Csa) on the western half of the city. According to the Troll-Paffen climate classification, Madrid has warm-temperate subtropical climate and according to the Siegmund/Frankenberg climate classification, Madrid has a subtropical climate. Madrid has hot summers and relatively cool winters with somewhat frequent frosts and occasional snowfalls, with 3-4 snowy days on average.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cierzo</span> Wind

The cierzo is a strong, dry and usually cold wind that blows from the North or Northwest through the regions of Aragon, La Rioja and Navarra in the Ebro valley in Spain. It takes place when there is an anticyclone in the Bay of Biscay and a low-pressure area in the Mediterranean Sea. It is more common in autumn and winter, when larger pressure gradients take place, but a small pressure difference along the Ebro valley is sufficient to initiate it in any season.
