The Czech national football team represents the Czech Republic in international football, and are controlled by the Football Association of the Czech Republic, the governing body for football in the Czech Republic. Historically, the team participated in FIFA and UEFA competitions as Bohemia and Czechoslovakia. The Czech team, as Czechoslovakia, finished as runners-up to hosts Italy at the second-ever FIFA World Cup in 1934 and again were runners-up to Pelé's Brazil at the 1962 World Cup in Chile. They won the European Championship in 1976 over West Germany.

Doosan Arena, previously known as Stadion města Plzně is a multi-purpose stadium in Plzeň, Czech Republic. It is located in the Štrunc Park near the confluence of Mže and Radbuza rivers. It is also known as Stadion ve Štruncových sadech, named after Emil Štrunc, a former regional chieftain of the Sokol Movement.

Ján Čapkovič is a former Slovak football player. He played for Czechoslovakia, for which he played 20 matches and scored 6 goals. He helped Slovan Bratislava to the 1969 European Cup Winners' Cup Final where he scored one of their goals as they beat Barcelona 3-2.
Stadion Střelecký ostrov is a football stadium in České Budějovice, Czech Republic, located near the Vltava River. It is currently used as the home ground of SK Dynamo České Budějovice. The stadium holds 6,681 people and was built in 1940. Before renovation in 2003 it had a capacity of 12,000 people. The city and the club were however forced to reconstruct and modernize the stadium to meet the football association criteria. The stadium subsequently had an all-seated capacity of 6,681.

The top three teams in each group qualified for the 2009 U-20 World Cup.
