History
On 1 October 1951 the then Statsradiofonien launched their second radio station, called Program 2. [2] In 1959 Statsradiofonien changed its name to Danmarks Radio, and to DR in 1996. [3]
In 1960 Danmarks Radio started regional programming on P2 in the evenings. [4] The station switched to nationwide stereo output on 1 October 1969 after some regional trials. Classical music was first broadcast on the station in 1980 during the evenings when the regional programming took over the daytime schedule.
DR had in 2001 won the rights to use Denmark's new fourth nationwide FM channel to which the station was moved and re-launched as DR P2 Musik & Kultur on 1 September 2001. [5] The regional programming stayed on the former P2 regional channels and was re-launched as DR P4.
DR subsequently lost the rights to continue the use of the fourth nationwide FM channel from 2011, which meant DR only had room for three of their four FM channels. DR therefore decided that P1 and P2 must share the nationwide FM channel that P1 had been using, starting on 1 November 2011. [6] On the same day DR P2 became DR P2 Klassisk. [7] Both channels continued as two separate channels digitally on DAB and online. [8]
In 2013 DR P2 Klassisk changed name to its current name DR P2. [9]
On 1 October 2017 P2 became available on DAB+ radio when a nationwide switch-over took place. [10]
NRK, also known as the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, is the Norwegian government-owned radio and television public broadcasting company, and the largest media organisation in Norway. All other TV channels, broadcast from Norway, were banned between 1960 and 1981. NRK broadcasts three national TV channels and thirteen national radio channels on digital terrestrial television, digital terrestrial radio and subscription television. All NRK radio stations are streamed online at NRK.no, which also offers an extensive TV service. NRK is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union.

Norkring AS is a provider of digital terrestrial television and radio transmitting in Norway and Belgium. In Norway, Norkring operates a Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial (DVB-T) network for Norges Televisjon, as well as an FM and Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) radio. In Belgium, Norkring operates a DVB-T, DVB-T2, FM, DAB and DAB+ network. It operated a DVB-T network in Slovenia between 2010 and 2012. Norkring is owned by Telenor; Norkring België is owned 75 percent by Norkring and 25 percent by Participatiemaatschappij Vlaanderen.
YouSee is the largest quadruple play service provider in Denmark, and is a part of Nuuday which is a spun-off company from TDC Group, the largest telecommunications company in Denmark which was split into two separate companies. YouSee currently has 994,000 customers, down from its peak of 1.4 million in 2015.
The radio technology known as Digital Audio Broadcasting, and its TV sibling, Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB), is being operated in several regions worldwide, either in the form of full services, or as feasibility studies.

The country's national radio outlets transitioned to DAB on December 13, 2017. Local radio stations remain available in FM.

DR P6 Beat is one of DR's digital radio stations in Denmark. It launched on 11 April 2011 as the second of five new digital-only stations.
DR P8 Jazz is one of DR's digital radio stations in Denmark. It launched on 12 September 2011 as the fourth of five new digital-only stations.
DR P7 Mix was one of DR's digital radio stations in Denmark. It launched on 6 June 2011 as the third of five new digital-only stations. As of September 2019, it has been slated for closure.
Radio24syv was a Danish public service radio station sending talk radio. The radio station was financed by public money through mandatory licence fees, but was privately owned by Berlingske Media and PeopleGroup. The public funding was followed by requirements about the types of programs the radio station should broadcast.
