David Greenspan is the current Westlake, Ohio City Council President.

Life and career

Dave is currently serving as the Westlake City Council President. He also served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives which he represented the 16th Ohio House District. Dave has a wealth of experience in local government, serving in different capacities across the country. He served on the inaugural City Council for the city of Sandy Springs, Georgia from 2005 thru 2007, & helped establish its Fire and Police Departments, develop its first Fund Balance Reserve Policy, and expand the city’s parks program.

Prior to serving in the Ohio House of Representatives, Greenspan served two terms on the Cuyahoga County Council, first elected to the inaugural County Council in 2010. During his tenure, Representative Greenspan was the chairman of the Cuyahoga County Finance and Budgeting Committee, directing the adoption of a $3 billion biennial budget, which is the largest county operating budget in the state of Ohio.

Dave graduated from Troy University in Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Accounting. In addition to his dedication to public service, Greenspan has held a variety of roles in the public sector, including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. He has held leadership positions with the Atlanta Olympic Broadcasting, Turner Media Consultants, and the PGA TOUR Radio Network. Currently, Representative Greenspan is a small business owner and Chief Executive Officer of Green Elk Consulting Services, a consulting company that focuses on emerging/start-up ventures and turn-around business entities.

Greenspan is married with three children and is active in their education, extracurricular activities, and civic organizations. He and his family currently live in Westlake, Ohio.

2018 Ohios 12th congressional district special election

A special election for Ohio's 12th congressional district was held August 7, 2018, following the resignation of Republican U.S. Representative Pat Tiberi. The Republican Party nominated State Senator Troy Balderson for the seat while the Democratic Party nominated Franklin County Recorder Danny O'Connor. Balderson led O'Connor in preliminary results; however, the race was not officially called on election night. Counting of outstanding ballots began on August 18 and was completed on August 24. The outstanding ballots did not change the margin enough to trigger an automatic recount, so Balderson was declared the winner on August 24.

William Roemer is a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 38th district since 2019. A Republican, Roemer's district includes the western suburbs of Akron and Canton. He is serving his second term in the House of Representatives.

The 2021 Cleveland mayoral election took place on November 2, 2021, to elect the Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio. The election was officially nonpartisan, with the top two candidates from the September 14 primary election advancing to the general election, regardless of party. Incumbent Democratic Mayor Frank G. Jackson was eligible to run for reelection to a fifth term, but instead chose to retire. Justin Bibb was elected the 58th mayor of Cleveland in the general election.

On March 10, 2021, Marcia Fudge resigned her seat in the United States House of Representatives after being confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Biden administration. Governor Mike DeWine set the primary date for August 3, concurrent with the special election in Ohio's 15th congressional district. The general election was on November 2.
