David Hayes is an American bassist, guitarist, producer, singer and songwriter.
Hayes has worked with Van Morrison, Jesse Colin Young, The Rowans, Terry & The Pirates, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Country Joe McDonald and others.
Hayes first played on a Van Morrison album in 1973 with the release of Hard Nose the Highway and was a member of Morrison's acclaimed band, The Caledonia Soul Orchestra playing on the live album, It's Too Late to Stop Now . This album has often been regarded as one of the top live albums of all time. [1] [2] Hayes is a featured member of the band on Van Morrison's first ever DVD, Live at Montreux 1980/1974 released in 2006. He also appeared with Morrison's band on his Pay the Devil tour, performing with him at the Austin City Limits Festival in September, 2006, which was released on the limited edition album Live at Austin City Limits Festival and performs at stateside residencies, such as Caesars Palace, Las Vegas as part of Van's current North American touring band. The other Morrison albums Hayes has contributed to are Veedon Fleece (1974), Into the Music (1979), Common One (1980), Beautiful Vision (1982), Inarticulate Speech of the Heart (1983), Live at the Grand Opera House Belfast (1984), A Sense of Wonder (1985), No Guru, No Method, No Teacher (1986), Down the Road (2002), What's Wrong with This Picture? (2003), Magic Time (2005), Keep It Simple (2008), Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl (2009) and Three Chords & the Truth (2019). Hayes has also accompanied Morrison in concert more times than any other musician. [3]
Hayes also has released six solo albums starting in 1988 with Sunbathing In Leningrad, followed by Logos Through A Sideman in 1989, Born Heroes in 1993, "Soul Diver" in 2007, "In Stereo" in 2011, and "FolkJazz" in 2013; the last three have all been released since moving with his family to the rural Northern California coast. David has also pursued visual arts along with his musical career and has painted or sketched all the covers for his albums. [4]
On December 10, 2016 Hayes and duo partner Gene Parsons released their first album as a duo, Gene Parsons & David Hayes. Hayes and Parsons (formerly of The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers) met in sessions on the Mendocino Coast, where both live. Their work as a musical duo began in earnest in the mid-00's. In 2013, the duo of Parsons and Hayes invited singer-songwriters Gwyneth Moreland, for whom Hayes had produced the album "Ceilings Floors and Open Doors" (2014), and Steven Bates, a long time California club headliner, to join them in four-part harmony vocals and a showcase for each member's songwriting. The Mendocino Quartet was born and in 2017 released their first CD together "Way Out There."
Hayes produced a 2015 EP of live performances for Moreland called "Stages" that featured concert recordings with all members of The Quartet and, in 2017, he produced Gwyneth Moreland's "Cider." Both Ceilings Floors and Open Doors and Cider won the two of them accolades including topping Folk singles and album Charts.
Sir George Ivan "Van" MorrisonOBE is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and musician whose recording career started in the 1960s. Morrison's albums have performed well in the UK and Ireland, with more than 40 reaching the UK top 40, as well as internationally, including in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. He has scored top ten albums in the UK in four consecutive decades, following the success of 2021's Latest Record Project, Volume 1. Eighteen of his albums have reached the top 40 in the United States, twelve of them between 1997 and 2017. Since turning 70 in 2015, he has released – on average – more than an album a year. His accolades, include two Grammy Awards, the 1994 Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, the 2017 Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting and he has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2016 he was knighted for services to the music industry and to tourism in Northern Ireland.
The Byrds were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1964. The band underwent multiple lineup changes throughout its existence, with frontman Roger McGuinn being the sole consistent member. Although their time as one of the most popular groups in the world only lasted for a short period in the mid-1960s, the Byrds are considered by critics to be among the most influential rock acts of their era. Their signature blend of clear harmony singing and McGuinn's jangly 12-string Rickenbacker guitar sound was "absorbed into the vocabulary of rock" and has continued to be influential.

Christopher Hillman is an American musician. He was the original bassist of the Byrds. With frequent collaborator Gram Parsons, Hillman was a key figure in the development of country rock, defining the genre through his work with the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas and the country-rock group the Desert Rose Band. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as a member of the Byrds.
It's Too Late to Stop Now is a 1974 live double album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It features performances that were recorded in concerts at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, California, the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, and the Rainbow in London, during Morrison's three-month tour with his eleven-piece band, the Caledonia Soul Orchestra, from May to July 1973. Frequently named as one of the best live albums ever, It's Too Late to Stop Now was recorded during what has often been said to be the singer's greatest phase as a live performer.

Beautiful Vision is the thirteenth studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released in February 1982. It continued Morrison's departure from R&B at the time, instead favoring Celtic folk and American jazz in its music. As with many of Morrison's recordings, spirituality is a major theme and some of the songs are based on the teachings of Alice Bailey. Other songs show Morrison's Celtic heritage and reminiscence of his Belfast background.
The Caledonia Soul Orchestra was the band created by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison in 1973. The band was named after an eighteen-minute instrumental outtake from the His Band and the Street Choir album sessions.

Gene Victor Parsons is an American drummer, banjo player, guitarist, singer-songwriter, and engineer, best known for his work with the Byrds from 1968 to 1972. Parsons has also released solo albums and played in bands including Nashville West, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and Parsons Green. Along with guitarist Clarence White, he is credited with inventing the B-Bender —a device which allows a guitarist to emulate the sound of a pedal steel guitar. The device is often referred to as the Parsons/White B-Bender, a trademarked name.
"Bright Side of the Road" is a song written by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and included on his 1979 album Into the Music. It was also one of the outtakes that made up the 1998 compilation album, The Philosopher's Stone. As a single "Bright Side of the Road" was released in September 1979 and charted at No. 48 in the Netherlands, No. 63 in the UK and just outside the Billboard Hot 100 in the US at No. 110. In 2020, the song reached its highest radio airplay chart position in Ireland, peaking at #2.
Live at Montreux 1980/1974 is the first official DVD by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was released on 16 October 2006. The films consist of two separate performances by Van Morrison at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. It was certified gold in May 2007 and platinum in June 2009.
Keep It Simple is the thirty-third album by Northern Irish singer/songwriter Van Morrison, released in the UK on 17 March 2008 and in the US on 1 April 2008. It was Morrison's first US Top 10 album, and made the Top 10 in the UK, Canada and in some European countries. It was his first studio album of all new original material since Back on Top (1999), and includes elements of jazz, folk, blues, celtic, country, soul and gospel.
Moreland & Arbuckle was an American electric blues/roots rock trio. Moreland described their music as "gritty blues and roots rock from the heartland." After six previous releases, the band signed with Alligator Records in 2015. The label debut, Promised Land Or Bust, was released on May 6, 2016, and was produced by Matt Bayles. In April 2017, the band announced their break-up.

Carroll has nine solo albums to his credit, all indie releases, beginning with 2000's South of Town. His songwriting, which focuses on life in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, is influenced by the work of Texas greats such as Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. He was honored in 2016 with the release Highway Prayer: A Tribute to Adam Carroll, which features recordings of his songs by some of Austin's leading Americana music artists, including Slaid Cleaves, James McMurtry, Terri Hendrix and Tim Easton.
