Directorate of Archives and Libraries [1] is a government department responsible for the management and operations of the National Library and the National Archives in Bangladesh and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [2] It is the International Standard Book Number agency in Bangladesh responsible for providing publishers with ISBNs. [3]

History

Directorate of Archives and Libraries was founded in 1972 by the President of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was placed under the Ministry of Education initially but later placed under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. It was initially located in a rented building and in 1986 it was moved to National Library building which was constructed in 1985. In 2001 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation to build a building for the Directorate of Archives and Libraries. The purpose-built headquarters were partially completed in 2004 and fully completed in 2012. [4]

Jatiya Sangsad Unicameral legislature of Bangladesh

The Jatiya Sangsad, often referred to simply as the Sangsad or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved for women, which are apportioned on elected party position in the parliament. Elected occupants are called members of parliament or MPs. The 11th National Parliamentary Election was held on 30 December 2018. Elections are held every five years unless the parliament is dissolved before that time.

Directorate General of Forces Intelligence Military intelligence section of the Bangladesh Armed Forces

The Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, commonly known as DGFI is the military intelligence section of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, tasked with collection, collation, and evaluation of strategic and topographic information, primarily through human intelligence (HUMINT). As one of the principal members of the Bangladesh intelligence community, the DGFI reports to the Director-General and is primarily focused on providing intelligence for the Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Bangladesh, and the Armed Forces of Bangladesh.

Assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

The first president of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and almost his entire family were killed during the early hours of 15 August 1975, when a group of young Bangladesh Army personnel went into his residence and assassinated Sheikh Mujib as part of a coup d'état.

Lieutenant General Md Mahfuzur Rahman is the present Armed Forces Division's Principal Staff Officer. The headquarter is located in Dhaka Cantonment.

Ministry of Cultural Affairs (Bangladesh)

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs is a ministry of the Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh, in charge of national museums and monuments; promoting and protecting the arts in Bangladesh and managing the national archives. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs is also charged with maintaining the Bengali identity.

Sheikh Hasina Cantonment is the headquarter of 7th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army. It is located in Lebukhali, Patuakhali. The area of the cantonment is 1532 acres. The project will be completed by the Ministry of Defence by June 2021.

It was built to develop skilled manpower trained in the uses of nuclear resources.
