Dorje were an English rock band formed in 2012 under the name The Rob Chapman Band, however soon changed their name to Dorje. It was founded by Rob Chapman, Rabea Massaad, Dave Hollingworth and Ben Minal.

Description

2007–2012: Formative years, Primordial Audio Chronicle

Prior to Dorje, Massaad, Hollingworth and Minal were members of nu metal band ChasinJade. [1] After a chance meeting in a bar, Chapman asked Massaad to join the band he was forming. Subsequently Hollingworth and Minal were brought on board, forming The Rob Chapman Band. The band eventually began to focus less on Chapman's solo compositions, and a new name was chosen: Dorje. Their debut EP, Primordial Audio Chronicle: Volume One, was released on 14 October 2012, [2] and their first UK tour sold out.

2012–2016

Dorje released their first single, "White Dove", from the EP Catalyst, on 6 August 2015, which was followed by their EP Catalyst on 6 November 2015. [3] This was supported by the Catalyst tour of the United Kingdom.

On 14 October 2016 Dorje released the Centred and One EP.

2016–2021

Dorje have been on an unofficial hiatus whilst members have focused on other musical projects since mid-2016, it is currently unknown if they plan to return. In October 2020 the band released a statement that drummer Ben Minal had left Dorje. [4] Rob Chapman has officially written a statement that Dorje has been disbanded as of 16/12/2021.

Dorje have been called progressive metal, [3] [6] [7] [8] progressive rock, [3] [6] [7] [8] alternative metal, [2] [9] blues rock [3] [9] and hard rock, [8] additionally they have been compared to the likes of Audioslave, [1] Tool [9] and Alter Bridge. [9]

Prototype is an American progressive metal band from Los Angeles. The band was formed in 1994 by vocalist/guitarist Vince Levalois and guitarist Kragen Lum, who were both members of Psychosis at the time. The band's current line-up comprises founding members Levalois and Lum, bassist Kirk Scherer and drummer Pat Magrath. Bassists Stephen Gambina and Mike Bear and drummers Damion Ramirez and Nic Ritter are former members of the band.

Cynic (band) American band

Cynic is an American progressive metal band formed in Miami, Florida in 1987 which incorporates elements of progressive rock, alternative rock, and extreme metal. Their first album, Focus, released on September 14, 1993, is widely regarded as a landmark release of the progressive metal genre. Cynic disbanded in 1994, but they reunited in 2006 and released their second album on November 17, 2008. Traced in Air was released through French label Season of Mist, followed up by an EP titled Re-Traced on May 18, 2010 and an EP titled Carbon-Based Anatomy on November 11, 2011. Their third studio album, Kindly Bent to Free Us, was released on February 14, 2014. In December 2017, after two years of an uncertain future, founding member Sean Reinert confirmed his split from Cynic. Reinert died at the age of 48 on January 24, 2020. A longtime Cynic bass player, Sean Malone, died at the age of 50 eleven months later, leaving Masvidal as the only remaining original core member left.

Touchstone are an English progressive rock band. The band was formed by keyboardist Rob Cottingham and guitarist Adam Hodgson in 2003. The name was thought up by Rob, being taken from a lyric in his solo album, Behind The Orchard Tree. Touchstone's music is distributed by Proper Music Distribution.

Bleeding Oath were an English progressive rock band from London, formed in 2009. The lineup consisted of Rob Haigh, Micah Douglas (guitar), Moat "Literally Large" Lowe (bass) and Harrison White (drums). They gained notoriety for their large Facebook campaigns, irreverent attitude and self-deprecating humour, as evidenced by the group and its fans getting artists from various major groups, including Andrew W.K., DragonForce, Jason Aalon Butler of letlive. and Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth to tell them, in jest, to "fuck off". Along with Opeth, the band cited groups such as Between the Buried and Me, Mastodon and Cynic as influences, as well as progressive metal, 20th-century classical music and jazz.

Eagles of Death Metal American rock band

Eagles of Death Metal is an American rock band from Palm Desert, California, formed in 1998. Founded by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (drums), the band also includes a wide range of other musicians who perform both on the band's studio albums and at live shows. Hughes and Homme are the only permanent members of the band, with Homme rarely performing at live shows due to commitment to his other band, Queens of the Stone Age. The band's current touring line-up includes Hughes alongside Josh Jove (guitar), Eden Galindo (guitar), Jennie Vee (bass) and Jorma Vik (drums).
