Doug Hocking (born October 16, 1969 in Sarnia, Ontario) was a star linebacker who played twelve seasons in the CFL for the BC Lions and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Sarnia is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, and had a 2016 population of 71,594. It is the largest city on Lake Huron and in Lambton County. Sarnia is located on the eastern bank of the junction between the Upper and Lower Great Lakes where Lake Huron flows into the St. Clair River, which forms the Canada–United States border, directly across from Port Huron, Michigan. The city's natural harbour first attracted the French explorer La Salle, who named the site "The Rapids" when he had horses and men pull his 45-ton barque Le Griffon up the almost four-knot current of the St. Clair River on 23 August 1679.

Post-playing career

He was the football coach of the Winnipeg Rifles of the CJFL for the 2003 season. He then moved on to be the defensive coordinator of the Vancouver Island Raiders, a position he held until the end of the 2011 season. For the 2012 season, he joined the coaching staff of the UBC Thunderbirds, under defensive co-ordinator Jerome Erdman and head coach Shawn Olson.

After an aborted move of the Victoria Rebels to Nanaimo in late 2004, the Raiders were founded in 2005, and won the CJFL championship in 2006, 2008 and 2009. 99th Grey Cup

The 99th Grey Cup was a Canadian football game between the East Division champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the West Division champion BC Lions to decide the champion of the Canadian Football League in the 2011 season. The Lions defeated the Blue Bombers 34–23 and became the first team in CFL history to win the Grey Cup after starting the season with five straight losses. They also became the first team to win the championship game at home since the 1994 Lions did it in the 82nd Grey Cup, and were only the fourth team in the modern era to do so. This, a rematch of the 76th Grey Cup, was the second time that these two teams met for the championship.
