The Downingtown Area School District is a school district based in Downingtown, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The district operates ten elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools. As of 2018, the district educates approximately 12,000 students, making it the largest school district in Chester County. [2]

As of 2017, U.S. News & World Report has named all three DASD high schools, DHS East, DHS West, and the Downingtown STEM Academy as three of the top high schools in the United States. DHS East and DHS West earned a silver award. Downingtown STEM Academy received a bronze award. [4]
DHS East, DHS West and the Downingtown STEM Academy have been named to The Washington Post 's list of the most challenging high schools in America. [5]
The International Baccalaureate Organization has named the Downingtown STEM Academy an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The STEM Academy is the first IB World School in Chester County and will be the first high school in the nation to offer an IB program with STEM pathways.
Chester County, colloquially referred to as Chesco, is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is located in the Delaware Valley region, located in the southeastern part of the state. As of the 2020 census, the population was 545,823. increasing by 7.1% from 498,886 in 2010. The county seat is West Chester. The township was founded by settlers from Calne, Wiltshire in England in 1714; the relationship between Calne and Wiltshire continues in the present since the two are sister cities. Caln is a township of the First Class, and the governing body is a Board of Commissioners. The township also owns Ingleside Golf Club and over 200 acres (0.81 km2) of green space and parks.

The township wraps around the eastern half of Downingtown and is mostly indistinguishable from it. East Caln Township is very developed, containing several shopping centers, including the regionally important Brandywine Square Center, several recently constructed housing developments varying from condominiums to large single family homes, and some industry in the southern fringe of the township.
Lionville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Uwchlan Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,189 at the 2010 census. Prior to 2010 the CDP was recorded as Lionville-Marchwood. "Marchwood", however, refers only to the housing development begun in the early 1960s that is located south of the 100-113 intersection.
Upper Uwchlan Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 11,227 at the 2010 census. The township included the community of Milford Mills before it was inundated by the creation of the Marsh Creek Dam in 1972.

Downingtown High School is an American secondary school located in Downingtown, Pennsylvania and Uwchlan Township, Pennsylvania. Population growth in the burgeoning Downingtown Area School District forced the original Downingtown High School to split into two campuses: Downingtown High School East Campus and Downingtown High School West Campus. While still legally considered one school, the two campuses are generally regarded as separate entities.
Pennsylvania Route 113 is a 46.9-mile-long (75.5 km) state route in eastern Pennsylvania. The southern terminus of the route is at U.S. Route 30 Business in Downingtown. Its northern terminus is at PA 611 in Tinicum Township. The route is signed as north–south although its exact alignment follows a northeast-southwest routing. The route serves Chester, Montgomery, and Bucks counties, passing through Lionville, Phoenixville, Trappe, Skippack, Harleysville, Souderton, and Silverdale along the way.
Pennsylvania Route 282 is an 11.9-mile-long (19.2 km) state highway in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The route, which is signed east-west, runs from PA 82 in West Nantmeal Township southeast to U.S. Route 30 Business in Downingtown. PA 282 follows Creek Road, a two-lane undivided road that winds along the East Branch Brandywine Creek through rural areas, for most of its length. The route passes through the communities of Glenmoore and Lyndell along the way. PA 282 was designated onto its current alignment in 1928.

Downingtown STEM Academy is a public high school and an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in the Downingtown Area School District, located in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. The school has a unique curriculum that prepares students for college education and careers in the STEM fields. A major focus in the courses offered at the Downingtown STEM Academy is inquiry and project-based learning, as well as the growth of 21st-century learning skills.
Katie J. Muth is an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, representing the 44th District. Her district includes portions of northeastern Chester and southwestern Montgomery and southeastern Berks Counties.
