Wasala Kulathun Wijekoon Mudiyanselage Duleeka Kumari Wijekoon Marapana [1] commonly as Duleeka Marapana (Sinhala : දුලිකා මාරපන; born 15 November 1975), [2] is an actress in Sri Lankan stage, television and cinema as well as a public speaker, director, producer and philanthropist. [3] [4] Marapana is best known for the role "Dingiri Amma" in Malee teledrama. [5] [6] Apart from acting, she is the Founder of 3rdbell Productions and Academy, the Chairperson CO CO productions and founder of Northwest films.

Career

Marapana started her acting career in 1997 while in university, starring in various stage dramas. [7] Her most-notable dramas were Sapathnee (best actress), Swarnama (best actress), Katu Yahana (nominated), Sevanali Ha Minissu, House of Bernarda Alba (best supporting actress) [8] Katu Yahana [9] and Upanda Maranaya. [10]

In 2014 she appeared in her own production of Lawrencege Manamali, [11] alongside her husband Sujeewa Priyal Yaddehige. [12] Their wedding was celebrated during the stage drama performed on 13 and 14 August 2015. [13] [14] [15] The play received huge popularity and has been staged more than 380 shows island-wide.

In Sumathi Awards, Marapana won the Best Actress Award for her role in Depath Nai, Himakatayam, Rathriya, Sudheera, Isuru Bawana, Ridee Ittankaraya, and Me Wasantha Kalayai. [16] [17] After that, her most-popular role "Dingiri Amma" came through the teledramas Malee [18] and Aththamma. For both serials, she won People's Award two times. [19] [20] In 2019, she appeared in the popular Sudu Anguru and stage play Lawrencege Manamali. [21] Recently, she appeared in the serials, Internasanal 1 and 2 and Pork Street.

The actress, who is also actively engaged in environmental conservation and activism, played a lead role in an environmental film Suparna directed by her husband. [22] [23] Apart from that, she acted with critics acclaimed roles in the films such as Sooriya Arana, Kosthapal Punyasoma, Samanala Thatu, Walapatala, Sinhaya and Daruwane.

<i>Malee</i> TV series in Sri Lanka

Malee is a 2011 Sri Lankan mystery thriller teledrama broadcast on TV Derana. The series is produced by Janaka Siriwardena and directed by Nimal Ratnayake. It initially aired from every Monday to Thursday from 7.30 pm to 8 pm onwards but later changed to air on every weekday at 9 pm to 9.30 pm. The series was followed by three more seasons - Aththamma, Sidu and Shakthi.

Sarath Chandrasiri [Sinhala]) was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television. He is best known for the role "Samagipura Wasantha" in popular television serial Paba and role "Ukkuwa" in the serial Malee.

Mukthagara Adhikari Muidayanse Ralahaminalage Vishaka Siriwardana, popularly known as Vishaka Siriwardana, was an actress in Sri Lankan cinema and television. In a career spanning more than three decades, she was known for her breakthrough roles in Saaranga, Sasara Chethana and Sura Duthiyo. At 5 feet 9 inches tall, she was the tallest actress in Sri Lanka.
