Duval County is a county in the State of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 864,263, with a 2017 estimate at 937,934, the seventh most populous in Florida. Its county seat is Jacksonville, with which the Duval County government has been consolidated since 1968. Duval County was established in 1822, and is named for William Pope Duval, Governor of Florida Territory from 1822 to 1834.

The Edwin M. Stanton School served African American students after the American Civil War and emancipation. It was named for Edwin M. Stanton, the Secretary of War during most of the American Civil War under U.S. president Abraham Lincoln. The school's historic 1917 school building replaced earlier school buildings destroyed by fire and one deemed unsafe. The school building is in Jacksonville, Florida at 521 West Ashley Street. On September 29, 1983, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
The Henry John Klutho House is a historic home in Jacksonville, Florida. The house was designed and lived in by the New York City architect Henry John Klutho, who helped in the rebuilding of Jacksonville after the Great Fire of 1901. Carl Duval Moore State Forest is in the central portion of Putnam County, Florida east of Interlachen, Florida. The state forest is located beside Up and Down Lake and includes a 1.5 mile trail. In 1993, the property was deeded by the Carl Duval Moore estate to the state of Florida to be used for public purposes as a forest.

Tracie Davis is an American politician and former teacher who currently serves as the representative for Florida House of Representatives District 13 as a member of the Democratic Party. After former Democratic representative Reggie Fullwood pleaded guilty to two counts of federal fraud, Davis was selected by the Duval County Democratic Party to replace him on the ticket.
