The Philippines competed at the 29th Southeast Asian Games which took place in Malaysia from 19 to 30 August 2017. The Philippines contingent was composed of 497 athletes, 163 sporting officials and 70 administrative and medical staff who competed in 37 out of the 38 sports. The Philippines finished the 29th SEA Games in 6th place with a medal haul of 23 Golds, 33 Silvers and 64 Bronze which is the country's worst finish in 18 years. The next edition of the Southeast Asian Games was hosted by the Philippines in 2019.

The 2018 AFC U-16 Championship was the 18th edition of the AFC U-16 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-16 national teams of Asia. It took place in Malaysia, which was appointed as hosts by the AFC on 25 July 2017, between 20 September and 7 October 2018. A total of 16 teams played in the tournament.

In this tournament, all 11 Southeast Asian teams played in the men's competition. In addition to the host city of Kuala Lumpur, matches were also played in Shah Alam and Selayang. Associations affiliated with FIFA might send teams to participate in the tournament. Men's teams were restricted to under-22 players.

The women's football tournament at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games was the tenth women's SEA Games football tournament. The tournament was held in Malaysia from 20 to 28 August 2017 where five teams participated in a round-robin format. There were no age restrictions on women's teams.

The 2018 Malaysia Challenge Cup group stage featured 8 teams. The teams were drawn into two groups of four, and played each other home-and-away in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group advanced to the semi-finals.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Malaysia M3 League</span> Football league season

The 2022 Malaysia M3 League was the 2nd season of Malaysia M3 League, the third-tier semi-professional football league in Malaysia, since its establishment in 2019. This is the first time the league had a full completed season since the 2019 season, after the 2020 season has been abandoned after only 2 games played due to COVID-19 restrictions nationwide, and the 2021 season being cancelled before the start of the season due to the same restrictions.
