Edward David Burt JP MP (born 23 November 1978) is the Premier of Bermuda and leader of the Progressive Labour Party (PLP). [4] Burt is Bermuda's youngest ever premier,having taken office at the age of 38. [5]
His mother,Merlin,is from Jamaica,while his father,Gerald,is Bermudian. [6] He is married to Kristin and has two children,Nia and Edward.[ citation needed ]
Burt attended the George Washington University in Washington,D.C.,double majoring in finance and information systems and attaining a master's degree in information systems development. [3] During his time at GW,he served as president of the George Washington University Student Association. [3] He attained a Project Management Professional certification in 2009. He is also a licensed private pilot. [7]
In October 2006,at the age of 28,Burt was made Chairman of the Progressive Labour Party,serving until October 2009. In 2010 he was appointed to the Senate of Bermuda,where he was given various portfolios including Junior Minister for Finance and Junior Minister of Environment,Planning and Infrastructure Strategy. [8] In 2012,he was elected to represent the constituency of Pembroke West Central,and was re-elected with increased majorities in 2017 and 2020. [9] Before becoming the Premier of Bermuda,Burt was Leader of the Opposition (Bermuda) from the 4 November 2016 to 18 July 2017.

She led the Progressive Labour Party (PLP) in opposition before being appointed Bermuda's first female Attorney-General. She first gained recognition in 1953 as Bermuda's first female barrister. Browne-Evans died of a suspected stroke on 29 May 2007,at age 79.
Andrew Michael Holness,is a Jamaican politician,who has been the prime minister of Jamaica since 3 March 2016,following the 2016 Jamaican general election. He is leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). Holness previously served as prime minister from 23 October 2011 to 5 January 2012. He succeeded Bruce Golding as prime minister,and decided to go to the polls in the 29 December 2011 general election in an attempt to get his own mandate from the Jamaican electorate. He failed in that bid,however,losing to the People's National Party led by Portia Simpson-Miller,with the PNP gaining 42 seats to the JLP's 21. Following that defeat,Holness served as Leader of the Opposition from January 2012 to March 2016,when he once again assumed the position of prime minister. In 2020,the Labour Party won a landslide in another general election,and on 7 September Holness was sworn in for another term as prime minister.
Paula Ann Cox CBE is a Bermudian politician and former premier of Bermuda. She has been the leader of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party (PLP),since 28 October 2010. In accordance with the Bermuda Constitution Order 1968,she was appointed Premier of Bermuda,on Friday,29 October 2010 by Governor Sir Richard Gozney. She was succeeded as Premier by Craig Cannonier on 18 December 2012,when she led her party into election defeat,losing her own seat in the process.

General elections were held in Bermuda on 1 October 2020 to elect all 36 members of the House of Assembly. On 21 August 2020 Premier Edward David Burt announced that Governor of Bermuda John Rankin has accepted his advice to call a snap election. The election resulted in the largest victory for one party since party politics began in Bermuda in 1968,as the Progressive Labour Party won 62% of the vote and 30 of 36 seats.
