Eg is a neighbourhood in the city of Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county, Norway. It is the only neighborhood in the borough that is located outside of the downtown city centre of Kristiansand (being about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) north of the downtown). The main hospital for all of Southern Norway, Sørlandet Hospital Kristiansand, is located on the north side of Eg. Eg is located between the river Otra and the Baneheia park. [1]

Kristiansand, historically spelled Christianssand and Christiansand, is a city and municipality in Norway. It is the fifth largest city in Norway and the municipality is the sixth largest in Norway, with a population of 88,598 as of June 2016. In addition to the city itself, Statistics Norway counts four other densely populated areas in the municipality: Skålevik in Flekkerøy with a population of 3,526 in the Vågsbygd borough, Strai with a population of 1,636 in the Grim borough, Justvik with a population of 1,803 in the Lund borough, and Tveit with a population of 1,396 in the Oddernes borough. Kristiansand is divided into five boroughs: Grim, which is located northwest in Kristiansand with a population of 15,000; Kvadraturen, which is the centre and downtown Kristiansand with a population of 5,200; Lund, the second largest borough; Oddernes, a borough located in the west; and Vågsbygd, the largest borough with a population of 36,000, located in the southwest.

The name Eg comes from Eik (meaning "Oak"), because of the thick oakwood which can still be found in the area. Some of the oldest settlements in Kristiansand are in the area of Eg. When the Kristiansand area was only farmland, one of the four largest farms was located at Eg. The others were located at Gimle, Grim, and Kjos.

Gimle is a neighbourhood in the city of Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county, Norway. It's located in the borough of Lund. It is located near the neighborhoods of Oddemarka and Presteheia. The neighborhood of Kjøita lies to the southwest and the neighborhood of Marvika lies to the southeast.

Today, there is an elementary school and a kindergarten located at Eg. The neighbourhood is mostly apartments. Eg is served by bus line 12 from Kjos Haveby to the hospital.

Kvadraturen is the city center of Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county, Norway, with a population of 6,750 (2015). The borough is made up of the centre together with the harbour to the south and the more rural district of "Eg" to the north. Kvadraturen is the administrative centre of the municipality of Kristiansand as well as the administrative centre of Vest-Agder county, but is far smaller in area than the other boroughs in the municipality, such as the borough of Grim to the north and west, and the borough of Lund to the east.

Posebyen is a neighbourhood in the city of Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county, Norway. Posebyen is located in the downtown borough of Kvadraturen, along the western shore of the river Otra. It consists mostly of large, white, wooden houses, many of which were left intact after the big city fire in 1892. Therefore, it forms the largest continuous collection of old wooden houses in any city in Northern Europe.

Gillsvannet lake in Kristiansand, Norway

Gillsvannet or Gjelsvannet is a freshwater lake in the municipality of Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county, Norway. The 1.05-square-kilometre (260-acre) lake is located about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of downtown Kristiansand, along to County Road 452. The lake lies about 300 metres (980 ft) west of the Topdalsfjorden, at an elevation of about 1 metre above sea level. There is a practice range for kayaking on the lake as well as many areas used for swimming during the summer season. The Gimlekollen district lies on the southern shore of the lake and the village of Justvik lies just north of the lake.
