Contents

It elects one deputy to the lower house of Congress for each three-year legislative period, by means of the first-past-the-post system.

District territory

Under the 2022 districting plan, the district covers ten municipalities in the southwestern portion of Hidalgo, adjacent to the states of Mexico and Querétaro: Atitalaquia, Atotonilco de Tula, Chapantongo, Huichapan, Nopala de Villagrán, Tepeji del Río de Ocampo, Tepetitlán, Tezontepec de Aldama, Tlaxcoapan and Tula de Allende. [2] [3]

Its head town (cabecera distrital), where results from individual polling stations are gathered together and collated, is the El Llano neighbourhood of the city of Tula de Allende. [2] [1]

Previous districting plans

Between 2017 and 2022, the fifth district comprised the same 10 municipalities as in the 2022 plan. [4] [5]
Under the 2005 scheme, the fifth district covered the same 10 municipalities. [6] [7]
From 1996 to 2005, the district covered 12 municipalities in the same part of the state: Ajacuba, Tetepango, Tlahuelilpan, Atitalaquia, Atotonilco de Tula, Chapantongo, Nopala de Villagrán, Tepeji del Río de Ocampo, Tepetitlán, Tezontepec de Aldama, Tlaxcoapan and Tula de Allende. [8]
