Comet Finlay is a periodic comet in the solar system discovered by William Henry Finlay on September 26, 1886. It came to perihelion on December 27, 2014, at around apparent magnitude 10.

Finlay were a five piece indie rock band from London, England. The band was formed in 1996 by school friends Adam Straw, Anamik Saha and Christopher Allison. Lorna Crabbe joined in August 1997, and Giles Littleford three years later. They released a single and an EP on their own label, Growl Wow Records, before signing with British independent label Fortuna Pop! who released their two full-length albums to much critical acclaim. Kerrang! called their debut a "Ragged and Wonderful sliver of a debut", while UNCUT magazine described Finlay's sound as "heroic and inspired pop music tuned in from an unearthly frequency". The band became particularly known for their DIY lo-fi aesthetic, most evident in their earlier recordings.

Finlay River river in Canada

The Finlay River is a 402 km long river in north-central British Columbia flowing north and thence south from Thutade Lake in the Omineca Mountains to Williston Lake, the impounded waters of the Peace River formed by the completion of the W.A.C. Bennett Dam in 1968. Prior to this, the Finlay joined with the Parsnip River to form the Peace. The headwaters of the Finlay at Thutade Lake are considered the ultimate source of the Mackenzie River. Deserters Canyon is located just north of Williston Lake.

The Peace River is a 1,923-kilometre-long (1,195 mi) river in Canada that originates in the Rocky Mountains of northern British Columbia and flows to the northeast through northern Alberta.
