Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi is a Pakistani politician who served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from 24 September 2018 to 8 January 2021. He had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from August 2018 to August 2023. He has served as a member of the Core Committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf since 1996. He has also served from 2015 to 2019 in the Karachi Municipal Corporation as Union Council Chairman for UC-18 Karachi East.
Naqvi was born on 10 May 1956 in Faisalabad,Pakistan. [1]
He received a degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Civil from the NED University of Engineering and Technology and degree of Masters in Construction Management and Masters in Highways &Design Material from the University of Michigan. [1]
He joined PTI as a founding member in 1996 and worked closely with Imran Khan in building the party. Naqvi became a member Central executive of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf when it was founded by Imran Khan in 1996,he was appointed its spokesperson on 2007,Naqvi also chaired party's Manifesto Committee for 2013 elections.Naqvi serves as the member of the Central Executive Committee and spokesperson on Commerce &Industry of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. One of Tehreek-e-Insaf's most prominent members from Karachi. Naqvi still remains Member in Core Committee of Tehreek-e-Insaf since 1996. He was President of PTI Karachi chapter during elections 2018. Under his leadership PTI won 14 out 21 National Assembly seats and 21 out of 44 Provincial Assembly seats. He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Constituency PS-101 (Karachi East-III) in 2018 Pakistani general election. [2]
In September 2018,he resigned as president of PTI chapter in Karachi. [3]
On 5 September 2018,PTI nominated him as leader of the opposition in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. [4] On 24 September,he was declared as Leader of Opposition. [5]

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a political party in Pakistan. It was founded in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan,who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. The PTI is one of the three major Pakistani political parties alongside the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML–N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP),and it is the largest party in terms of representation in the National Assembly of Pakistan since the 2018 general election. With over 10 million members in Pakistan and abroad,it claims to be the country's largest political party by primary membership as well as one of the largest political parties in the world.
Zahra Shahid Hussain also known as Zara Apa,was a Pakistani activist-politician,teacher and the senior vice president of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Sindh. She had formerly served as the president for PTI's women's wing of the party in Sindh,and was a member of the central executive committee of the party. On 18 May 2013,she was assassinated outside her house in the upscale Defence Housing Authority neighborhood in Karachi.

The 2023 Karachi local government elections were held in Karachi,Pakistan on 15 January 2023 to elect members of local councils. These members would then elect the Mayor of Karachi (2023-2027). These elections were the 3rd Karachi local government elections.
Provincial elections are scheduled to be held in Sindh on 8 February 2024 to elect a new provincial legislature. On 5 August 2023,after the approval of the results of the 2023 digital census by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,elections have been delayed for several months,as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023. On 2 November 2023,the Election Commission of Pakistan announced,in agreement with the President of Pakistan,Arif Alvi,that the elections will be held on 8 February 2024. This election will be held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
