Five Horse Johnson is an American blues rock band from Toledo, Ohio, formed in 1995. They have toured with such popular groups as Clutch and Halfway to Gone. The band combines hard rock, blues and other influences into a blend of stoner rock/blues music they call their own. Their second to latest album The Mystery Spot featured many special guests including drummer Jean-Paul Gaster from Clutch; on a related note they have played a worldwide tour with Clutch and Dub Trio.

Blues rock is a fusion genre combining elements of blues and rock. It is mostly an electric ensemble-style music with instrumentation similar to electric blues and rock: electric guitar, electric bass, and drums, often with Hammond organ. From its beginnings in the early- to mid-1960s, blues rock has gone through several stylistic shifts and along the way it inspired and influenced hard rock, Southern rock, and early heavy metal. Blues rock continues to be an influence in the 2010s, with performances and recordings by popular artists.
Toledo is a city in and the county seat of Lucas County, Ohio, United States. Toledo is in northwest Ohio, at the western end of Lake Erie bordering the state of Michigan. The city was founded in 1833 on the west bank of the Maumee River, and originally incorporated as part of Monroe County, Michigan Territory. It was re-founded in 1837, after conclusion of the Toledo War, when it was incorporated in Ohio.

From Beale Street to Oblivion is the eighth full-length studio album by rock band Clutch. It was produced by Joe Barresi, and released on the DRT Entertainment label. The album was released on March 27, 2007 and was the second of two Clutch albums to feature keyboardist Mick Schauer.
After a bit of a hiatus, Five Horse Johnson have regrouped. They played some European shows in mid-2011 and released the album "The Taking of Black Heart" release through Small Stone Records on 13 November 2012.
Small Stone Records is an American record label based in Detroit, MI. It was founded in 1995 by Scott Hamilton and is a self-dubbed "heavy rock" label. The label has released a number of stoner rock compilation albums, as well as releases by Dozer, Five Horse Johnson, Los Natas, Halfway To Gone, Solace, and many others in the stoner rock, indie, blues-rock, and psychedelic genres.
