"Ice Ice Baby" was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard charts and has been credited with helping to diversify hip hop by introducing it to a mainstream audience.

He is best known for his time with the Vancouver Canucks, where he was one of the club's top players in their first decade of existence. He was selected to play in the NHL All-Star Game in 1976 and 1978.
Ulf Ivar Erik "Uffe" Sterner is a Swedish former professional ice hockey forward. He played in nine IIHF World Championships for Sweden, where the team won seven medals: one gold, five silver, and one bronze. He was also a member of the silver medal team at the 1964 Winter Olympics. Sterner played for Forshaga IF from 1956–61, Västra Frölunda IF from 1961–64, and for the New York Rangers in 1964–65, before returning to Sweden to play for Rögle BK and Färjestads BK. He finished his career in England with the London Lions in 1973–74. On 27 January 1965, he became the first European-trained player to play in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Underwater ice hockey is a minor extreme sport that is a variant of ice hockey. It is played upside-down underneath frozen pools or ponds. Participants wear diving masks, fins and wetsuits and use the underside of the frozen surface as the playing area or rink for a floating puck. Competitors do not use any breathing apparatus, but instead surface for air every 30 seconds or so.
David Edward Fortier is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League and the World Hockey Association during the 1970s. Selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft, Fortier spent most of the next three seasons in the minor Central Hockey League, though he played one season with Toronto before joining the New York Islanders for two seasons, with his final NHL season with the Vancouver Canucks. He then moved to the Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association, and spent a final season in the minor leagues before retiring in 1979.

Thomas Lewis Skuce, more popularly known as Lou Skuce, was a Canadian comic strip and editorial cartoonist, who also appeared widely in movie theatres to entertain while producing cartoons that were projected onto the screen. He also worked in commercial illustration, owning his own studio serving advertising clients in Canada and the United States. During World War II, he also produced material that appeared in the Canadian Whites. When he died, he was referred to as "Canada's Greatest Cartoonist".
The Open Ice Summit was an ice hockey conference held in Toronto on August 25–27, 1999. It was arranged by Hockey Canada in co-operation with the National Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey League, in response to Canadian national ice hockey teams struggling and a general panic in Canada. The summit's primary focus was player development in Canada, and was targeted at league executives, parents, coaches and hockey associations. Discussions produced a list of 11 recommendations to improve hockey in Canada, which included a campaign aimed at Canadian parents on why players needed more practices than games. The summit's recommendations ultimately led to fundamental changes in how Canadian players were trained.
