Freeman Frederick Thomas was an English cricketer active from 1860 to 1867 who played for Sussex. He was born in Lymington, Hampshire, and died in Sanremo, Italy. He appeared in nine first-class matches as a righthanded batsman who scored 89 runs with a highest score of 15. His son, who was only two when Thomas died, became Freeman Freeman-Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon, and also played for Sussex.

They had two sons, Lieutenant Gerard Frederick Freeman-Thomas, killed, aged 21, in the First World War, and Inigo Brassey Freeman-Thomas, 2nd Marquess of Willingdon.

Willingdon Island is significant as the home for the Port of Kochi, as well as the Kochi Naval Base of the Indian Navy, Plant Quarantine station, Custom House Cochin and Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, a constituent unit of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

Willingdon and Jevington is one of the civil parishes in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England. The two villages lie one mile (1.6 km) south of Polegate. The two parishes, two decades ago, were separate; the merger of the two has produced a parish of over 7,000 people. Willingdon is part of the built-up area which is Eastbourne, and lies on the main A22 road, whilst Jevington is on a minor road leading to Friston. In addition under the name of Willingdon it is also an electoral ward.

St Mary's Church is the Anglican parish church of the Hampden Park suburb of Eastbourne, a town and borough in the English county of East Sussex. The first building was destroyed by a bomb during World War II, and Edward Maufe was commissioned to design a replacement church; the hilltop building, finished in 1954, has been called "one of his most charming designs".
