Ga North Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga West District in 2004, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Ga North Municipal District on 15 March 2018, which was supported by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2314; [5] thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga West Municipal District . The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Ofankor as its capital town.

The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are currently 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.
The Greater Accra Region has the smallest area of Ghana's 16 administrative regions, occupying a total land surface of 3,245 square kilometres. This is 1.4 per cent of the total land area of Ghana. It is the most populated region, with a population of 5,455,692 in 2021, accounting for 17.7 per cent of Ghana's total population.
Pokuase, also spelled Pokoasi, is a suburb of Accra, the capital city of Ghana and spans the area from Pokuase, leading off the Accra-Kumasi motorway on the right coming from Accra central; and leading off the motorway at Pokuase Junction and rising to ‘Okai Kwei Hill’, on the left coming from town. It is a mixture of lively retail shopping areas, with local stores, bars or 'drinking spots', bus/taxi stations, and a market. It also has many hotels, guest houses and rental apartments- such as the eco-chic Legassi Gardens Apartments-, and 'high-end' developing residential estates, such as Ofankor Hills Estates and Franko Estates, amongst many others; as well as the long-established executive gated community of ACP Estates.; and HFS Estates which borders the erstwhile Gua Koo Sacred Grove in Pokuase.
Ga East Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga District in 1988, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Ga East District in 2004; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Ga West District. It was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on 29 February 2008 to become Ga East Municipal District, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga East Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Abokobi as its capital town.
Ga West Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga District in 1988, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Ga East District in 2004; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Ga West District. Later, the western part of the district was split off to create the first Ga South Municipal District on 29 February 2008, with Weija as its capital town; while Ga West was later elevated to municipal district assembly status during that same year to become Ga West Municipal District. However on 15 March 2018, the eastern part of the district has split off to create Ga North Municipal District, thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga West Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Amasaman as its capital town.
Ga Central Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga South Municipal District on 29 February 2008, until a small portion of the district was split off to create Ga Central Municipal District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga South Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Sowutuom as its capital town.
La Dade Kotopon Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Accra Metropolitan District in 1988, until the eastern portion of the district was split off to create La Dade Kotopon Municipal District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Accra Metropolitan District. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tema Municipal District, which was created from the former Tema District Council, until the eastern portion of the district was split off to create Kpone-Katamanso District on 28 June 2012, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2031; thus the remaining part has been retained as Tema Metropolitan District. However on 15 March 2018, it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Kpone-Katamanso Municipal District, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2271. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Kpone as its capital town.
Krowor Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the defunct Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal District on 29 February 2008, until part of the district was split off to create Krowor Municipal District on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining original part has been renamed as Ledzokuku Municipal District. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Nungua as its capital town.

Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District in 1988, which was created from the former Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Council, until the southern part of the district was split off to create Ayensuano District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Suhum Municipal District, which was also elevated into municipal district assembly status in that same year. The municipality is located in the southern part of Eastern Region and has Suhum as its capital town.
