Garrie Cooper Australian racing driver

Garrie Clifford Cooper was the founder of the highly successful Elfin Sports Cars and a competitive racing driver in his own right, winning the 1968 Singapore Grand Prix, the 1968 Australian 1½ Litre Championship, and the 1975 Australian Sports Car Championship - all in Elfin cars of his own design.

Garrie David Gibson is an Australian retired politician. Born in Brisbane, he was educated at the University of Queensland and the North Brisbane College of Advanced Education before becoming a primary teacher. He was an organiser with the Queensland Teachers Union before his election to the Australian House of Representatives in 1990 as the Labor member for Moreton. His election was the first time the Labor Party had ever won the seat, which has existed since Federation, although independent James Wilkinson sat as a Labor member from 1904–1906. Gibson held the seat until his defeat in 1996.

The 1975 Australian Sports Car Championship was a CAMS sanctioned Australian motor racing title open to Group A Sports Cars and Group D Production Sports Cars. The championship was contested over a single race staged at the Phillip Island circuit in Victoria, Australia on 30 November 1975. The race was run over 30 laps of the 4.76km circuit, a total race distance of 143km. It was the seventh Australian Sports Car Championship, and the only one in the twenty-year history of the title to be contested over a single race rather than over a series of races.
