History

Giresunspor was founded in 1925 and re-formed in 1967 after the merger of Yeşiltepespor, Akıngençlikspor, and Beşiktaşspor. The football club is playing in the 2. Lig. The Çotanaklar played in the Turkish Super League (then Turkish first league) between 1971 and 1977. It returned to the top level after 44 years by defeating Tuzlaspor 2–1 on an away match on 9 May 2021. The stay in the Super League lasted for two seasons.They Lasted 1 season in the Süper Lig and were relegated to the TFF Second League after a double relegation.

Mersin İdman Yurdu was a Turkish sports club from Mersin, Turkey in the eastern Mediterranean Region. The team played in the Turkish first division for 15 seasons, and after the 1983–84 season the football team played in the Turkish second and third divisions. The team was promoted to the Turkish second level division after the 2008–09 season. MİY became the champions of the Turkish second division during the 2010–11 season and earned promotion to the Turkish Süper Lig during the 2011–12 season. Tevfik Sırrı Gür Stadium was the previous ground of the team with a capacity of 10,125. The 2022–23 season was the 55th season in the existence of Giresunspor and the club's second consecutive season in the top flight of Turkish football. In addition to the domestic league, Giresunspor participated in this season's edition of the Turkish Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.
