Norwegian County Road 82 road in Nordland county, Norway

County Road 82 is a road in Nordland county, Norway. It runs between the village of Fiskebøl and the town of Andenes. The road runs through the municipalities of Hadsel, Sortland, and Andøy. At Fiskebøl, the road intersects with the European route E10 highway before crossing the Hadselfjorden on the Fiskebøl–Melbu Ferry. Bridges on the road include Andøy Bridge, Sortland Bridge, Hadsel Bridge, and Børøy Bridge. Two sections are designated as part of two National Tourist Routes in Norway: the section from the intersection with E10 to Fiskebøl is part of Lofoten National Tourist Route, and the section through Andenes is part of Andenes National Tourist Route. During summer, the Andenes–Gryllefjord Ferry connects to County Road 86 at Gryllefjord on the island of Senja. Before 1 January 2010, the road was called National Road 82, but due to reforms that went into effect on that day, the county took over the ownership and maintenance of the road.

It branches off of the main Vesterålsfjorden which is part of Norwegian Sea. The innermost part of the fjord is part of Sortland Municipality. The outer part of the fjord is split with the western coast belonging to Bø Municipality and the eastern coast belonging to Hadsel Municipality.

Vikeid isthmus in Sortland, Norway

Vikeid is a flat isthmus on the island of Langøya in the municipality of Sortland in Nordland county, Norway. The village of Vik lies on the east side of the isthmus and the village of Frøskeland lies on the west side. The isthmus has the Eidsfjorden to the west and the Sortlandsundet strait in the east. The isthmus almost divides Langøya in two. To the north lies the northwestern part of the municipality of Sortland, and further north the municipality of Øksnes. The southwest part of the municipality of Sortland lies south of the isthmus. The Eidsfjorden and the western part of the isthmus belonged to the municipality of Hadsel until 1963 when it was transferred to Sortland.

Museum Nord

Museum Nord is a Norwegian museum consortium for the northern part of Nordland county, including the districts of Lofoten, Vesterålen, and Ofoten. The museum is set up as a foundation and was established on December 13, 2002. It opened in 2004 and it is one of three museum consortia in Nordland; the other two are the Helgeland Museum and the Nordland Museum.
