Royal Air Force Machrihanish or RAF Machrihanish is a former Royal Air Force station located near the town of Machrihanish and 3.5 miles (5.6 km) west of Campbeltown, at the tip of the Kintyre peninsula, Argyll and Bute, in Scotland.
The M8 is the busiest motorway in Scotland and one of the busiest in the United Kingdom. It connects the country's two largest cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and serves other large communities including Airdrie, Coatbridge, Greenock, Livingston and Paisley. The motorway is 60 miles (97 km) long. A major construction project to build the final section between Newhouse and Baillieston was completed on 30 April 2017. The motorway has one service station, named Heart of Scotland Services, previously Harthill due to its proximity to the village.
Campbeltown Airport is located at Machrihanish, 3 nautical miles west of Campbeltown, near the tip of the Kintyre peninsula in Argyll and Bute on the west coast of Scotland. The airport was formerly known as RAF Machrihanish and hosted squadrons of the Royal Air Force and other NATO air forces as well as the United States Marine Corps. The airport is at a strategic point near the Irish Sea, and was used to guard the entrance to the Firth of Clyde where US nuclear submarines were based at Holy Loch and where Royal Navy Trident missile submarines are still based at HMNB Clyde.
Prestwick is a town in South Ayrshire on the west coast of Ayrshire in Scotland about 30 miles (50 km) south-west of Glasgow. It adjoins the larger town of Ayr to the south on the Firth of Clyde coast, the centre of which is about 2 miles (3 km) south. It had a population of 14,901 at the 2011 census.

The Renfrew Ferry is a passenger ferry service linking the north and south banks of the River Clyde in Scotland. The service, operated by Clydelink without subsidy, crosses between Renfrew and Yoker, close to Glasgow City Centre and is the last Clyde crossing this far upstream.

Clyde FastLink is a proposed high frequency bus rapid transit system in Glasgow, United Kingdom. It is planned to run between Glasgow city centre and several local and regional destinations, including Glasgow Harbour, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and Renfrew. The scheme is being led by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) and Glasgow City Council. The route will be almost fully segregated from normal traffic, except for a small area around Broomielaw due to land constraints, and around Glasgow Central station.

No. 309 Polish Fighter-Reconnaissance Squadron was a Polish fighter squadron formed in Great Britain as part of an agreement between the Polish government-in-exile and the United Kingdom in 1940. It was at first a reconnaissance squadron but was later turned into one of several Polish fighter squadrons fighting alongside the Royal Air Force during World War II.
On 21 April 1948, while on approach to Glasgow-Renfrew Airport, Vickers VC.1 Viking, registration G-AIVE, flying British European Airways Flight S200P crashed into Irish Law Mountain in North Ayrshire, Scotland. No one died in the accident, but 13 of the 20 passengers and crew were injured and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
Renfrew is a town 6 miles (10 km) west of Glasgow in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It is the historic county town of Renfrewshire. Called the "Cradle of the Royal Stewarts" for its early link with Scotland's former royal house, Renfrew gained royal burgh status in 1397.
Abbotsinch is an area in the town of Paisley, Scotland. It is today almost entirely occupied by Glasgow Airport.
