Ahmed Salah won the nation's first Olympic medal, which is a bronze at the Men's Marathon event.

Finland was also the host nation for the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. Finnish athletes have won a total of 302 medals at the Summer Games, mostly in athletics and wrestling. Kalhor competed in the slalom and giant slalom competitions. She was her nation's flag bearer in the Opening Ceremony. Kalhor finished 60th among 86 competitors in the Giant Slalom and 55th among 87 participants in the Slalom.

Iran sent a delegation to compete at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia from 7–16 March 2014. This was Iran's fifth time participating in a Winter Paralympic Games. The Iranian delegation consisted of a single alpine skier, Sadegh Kalhor, who had his leg amputated in a skiing accident as a teenager. In the standing slalom event, he finished in 20th place.
